I just finished my first run through of Dragon Age Origins, and I just have to say: OMFG!!!
This is absolutely the very best video game ever made!!
Seriously, the gang at BioWare, and the gazillion people involved in making it, should be very proud. I've never played a game that sent me on such an emotional roller coaster, as this one has.
I recall reading an article about how you wanted your players to feel attached and connected to their characters and the companions they interacted with, and that their decisions would affect the world around them.
Congrats, you pulled it off.
Dragon Age: Origins is a brilliant and compelling story, that kept me planted in my seat for god only knows how many hours, and is absolutely the best $50 worth of entertainment, I've ever spent.
My hat is off to you guys and gals for a job well done. This is absolutely what RPG gaming should be like, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for such a thrilling experience.
Sincerely
Devoted fan
Greatest Game EVER!!

It's a good game, I grand you that.
Though it is lacking the imersion of Pong, the originality of Space Invader's plot and the depth of character of the villains in Pacman.

The villains from Pacman really got into their right in the sequel though.
DAO is a good game though.

i'm actually a little pissed about their success in the area of making me feel attached and connected to my character and companions. my ending made me sooo sad!

I finished my 2nd playthrough today, and I have to agree with the points made here. Even having done it all once before, the game was just as great this time around.

I agree it was a fantastic game. I tried to play it for a second time though and just couldn't devote another 50 hours to it. IMO for a game to be top notch it should have replayability. Unfortunately for me it didn't.

Planescape: Torment, or maybe Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines are both incredibly good WRPGS... but Dragon Age is right up there with them in my book. It is indeed an incredible game. The only other single player RPG I think I've invested as much time in to, aside from the above, is probably Morrowind.
It's in good company.

I think I'm on my last playthrough, Archer Warrior build. Then I'm giving it a break for SUPCOM 2. And maybe Awakening after that. I agree, one of the best games I played so far, but not as addictive as Diablo & not as enjoyable or humourous as Fallout 3. I loved the tactics system & how you can manually control companions in DA:O combat. ME2 eat your heart out.

That's about 15 days of your life on that game. Jeez. You won the lottery?

I started the game several times, but never quite liked my characters, but have now settled on 2 characters - a male rogue and a female mage. I am doing these concurrently. The difference between the two playthroughs are quite amazing.
You can fully RP your characters in this game. I even extend this into combat where certain companions will choose to protect one of the other to reflect loyalties.
As for time spent, well yes days, but I have spent lots of days in my life doing pretty dull things and DAO ain't one of em.
