What is YOUR favorite ending?

That being said though, the ending that probably got the most emotional reaction out of me was when my female mage put hardened Al on the throne and then got the literal royal dumping treatment. So after my real self got over her nerd rage from being dumped by a video game love, and I realized I didn't really want to kill him or my character off by doing the ultimate sacrifice, I went back to an earlier save. Managed to talk him into keeping the poor mage on the side and felt quite triumphant. And then my friend and my sister laughed themselves to tears over my sillyness.

I really liked both endings, they really have a great emotional impact. It's always totally awesome when the Warden or Loghain let out a roar and jab the sword into the Archdemon's head knowing they are about to die. That exact moment always gets me for some reason, even if you find the roar cheesy.
My first play through I actually did the Dark Ritual to get a "happy" ending as Alistair's consort. It was okay, but I found that I really liked the "life sacrifice" endings much better.

My second choice would probably be the ultimate sacrifice ending because I just don't want a good guy like Alistair to take a bullet for me. I have no problem starting over again as an Orlesian Warden.

My warden attempted to declare herself queen, which failed because she was an elf (mage). Then she attempted to have Alistair marry Anora and stick around as a consort... but Alistair was unhardened so he wasn't keen on the consort notion and ended the relationship. Loghain had my warden's blessing to be spared but Alistair was having none of it and killed him on the spot.
So last option, warden went off to rebuild the order. Zev came along. Sten was dead in Lothering. Oghren became a wandering drunk or something. Wynne stayed as an advisor to Alstair. Lelianna went with the church to try reclaiming the urn (and failed because the dragon was still there).
The entire thing was rather bittersweet. Losing everyone but Zev felt like sand slipping through one's fingers.

Favourite is hardenend Alistair marries Anora, Loghain recruited and makes the ultimate sacrifice and the Warden goes off to run the Wardens with his lover, Zevran. (I'm female but I prefer playing male characters, on the whole).
I know Loghain has his haters but I love the guy so I always recruit him. I finally tried the Ultimate Sacrifice ending tonight with my female arcane warrior which gave me a bit of a lump in the throat, I'll admit. My Warden had been Alistair's lover but married him off to Anora for the good of Fereldan and then took the final blow herself. It did make me a bit sad to read the bit about Loghain going off to the Deep Roads on his own a few years later once the taint had got to him - I think it works out a lot better for him if you let him kill the Arch Demon and have his redemption.
I've not had an Alistair dies ending yet (I only killed Loghain in my first game and it made me feel so awful I didn't do it again) but my new HN character is going to attempt to marry Anora so we'll see how that goes.
In one playthrough I hardened Alistair and made him King on his own. I was curious at the end, so I let him sacrificed himself and he died. I was sad, he was a good pal. But the ending is total crap.
You're talking to everyone afterwards and the declare YOU the Hero of Ferelden and say you were the first person to defeat the Blight since Garahel, when it was Alistair. Even Wynne was like "Yes poor boy. But everyone wants a living hero, so go out and celebrate Hero of Ferelden." And in the epilogue, they dont talk about transporting his body to Weisshaupt or anything. It was very unsatisfying and sad.

This is my ending as well. I thought it was a great way to finish the game.Nobody Important wrote...
Hardened Alistair and Anora marry.
Spare Loghain.
Romance Morrigan and perform the dark ritual with her.
Basically it ends with Loghain rebuilding the grey wardens, Alistair and Anora ruling the country together, and my human noble running off to find Morrigan. I never make the happiest endings my personal canon ending.
I really liked having Loghain along. I had a hard time killing him after reading The Stolen Throne.

The most rewarding though was probably as a Dwarf noble - she brought Anora and Alistair together in holy royal matrimony, allowed Loghain to live and repent his cruel ways, found brief but inspiring love with Leliana and eventually gave her life as a proud Aeducan warrior by ending Ferelden's Blight. It was very moving.

1) Ultimate Sacrifice. Yes it's sad I know, but if you're looking to play this game one last time before putting it away then this is the end to look for.
2) Redeemer. Alistair Marries Anora and Loghain gets the killing blow. Warden stays with Leliana. I consider this to be the most "convenient". ending My only issue is that you need to be metagaming for this, but still a nice ending.

On my first playthrough (well, I'm still on my first kind of, I'm starting over again and again because I want it to be perfect, I'm funny that way) ... anyway, on my first playthrough, I immediately turned into the Alistair fan girl I am. Took him with me everywhere, listened to his advice (killing Loghain wouldn't be my first choice if Alistair wouldn't insist on doing so) and people keep telling me that I'm the Warden, the totally awesome heroine, savior of them all. I always felt like shouting 'Are you blind? There's TWO of us, the other Warden who risks his royal ass for the madness of saving this country is standing right NEXT TO ME! Would you PLEASE stop ignoring him!'.Thalorin1919 wrote...

I'll never be able to do the Ali sacrifice ending besides loading a save to see the goodbye kiss but honestly it's no surprise that they still make a fuss about you instead of the man who died for them. One of the endings I like the least (but I guess it makes sense for someone who doesn't like Al and leaves him at camp).
So I don't have a favorite ending but I have a strong dislike for some endings. I don't like marrying Alistair to Anora but I do like the wandering drunk ending. I like Alistair to be king or Anora to be queen on their own. The HNF queen ending naturally appeals to me at the moment because I'm writing my own follow up story for this.

The one downside was that Leliana took matters into her own hands, (it did make me feel a bit like a s#!+head), but not before she would compose and perform a ballad about her love that would come to be known throughout all of Thedas. The look on her face at my Warden's eulogy summed up the entire game for me: tradegy and triumph/love and loss. Finally a proper end.

For the PC romancing Alistair, the happiest ending is Loghain dead, Anora ruling alone, do the dark ritual and PC & Alistair end up together. I am probably going to do this, despite my reservations about the dark ritual. My PC feels he's earned it; if Morrigan's child threatens the world twenty years down the road, it will be some other hero's place to save it. I hesitated for a long time on the screen making my choice for ruler of Ferelden, staring at the option of Alistair and Anora marrying. I knew I could persuade him to do it with master coercion, but I had told him before that while I thought it was a good idea, I wouldn't push him into it. So I didn't, and he seemed happy enough to renounce his claim to the throne.
I'll probably play through the end game without the dark ritual as well, and choose the Alistair sacrifice ending, to see how it plays out. My PC is probably better equipped to rebuild the Ferelden Wardens than Alistair, so I'll regretfully let him go. If I had made Alistair king, I'd take the bullet myself.

He ended up with only two companions at the end, got made a paragon, and still got the "Ultimate Sacrifice" trophy.
Go figure.

That being said, I often make myself queen when I can. Most of my characters aren't that unselfish when it comes to love. Wynne is absolutely correct about that.

Dalish Elf warrior.
Alistair didnt get hardened, when asked if he wanted to be king he said no, I let him have his wish. (My Elf and Alistair didnt get along for some time but he started to grow on me, just not enough to get the personal quest). So Anora is on the throne, and she already has agreed to grant me any boon I asked.
My Shem distrusting nature kicked in for Morrigan's deal and instead of dying for the people that did the elves wrong, and released the darkspawn, and screwed over the best chance of stopping the Archdemon itself. I took her deal.
So end result,
Morrigan got her baby (duh duh DAH!)
Alistair lived, got his revenge on Loghain, and went on to happily run with the Grey Wardens.
The Dalish Elves were given the Kokari wilds and Ostagar as their new homeland, without Zathrian to go all revenge crazy it seems to be working out well.
The hero of Ferelden, knowing that questions are going to abound regarding my miraculous survival, leaves to go travel with my faithful Mabari Duke, good buddy Zevran, and against-the-odds-love Leliana.
Bhelen runs the dwarves and with the help of Branka, the golems, and the new chantry free circle of magi starts to push the darkspawn back at an unprecedented rate. The chantry is considering an exalted march, but considering the forces in Orzammar...I'd like to see them try.
The city elves have a better life with Shianni at the helm, apparantly they had a bit of a riot scenario. But given that the elves have a new homeland to go to, I don't feel bad for those that got screwed by staying at the horrid alienage. Those that give up freedom for security deserve neither after all.
Oghren seems to be happy on the surface and is heading to go see Felsi.
Sten is bringing the story of the Kadan to the Qun, his soul-sword in hand and his mission accomplished.
Shale is heading to the Imperium libraries to regain her squishiness.
Isolde is dead, Teagan is happily married, Eamon has a new mage-daughter to dote on.
All in all, not a bad legacy to leave behind for a violence happy, shem hating, take no crap, chantry bashing, darkspawn tainted, Anti-hero.

Unhardened Alistair as king (was unable to do his personal quest), with my city elf whom he hated acting as his chancellor, and being the true ruler
Redcliff becoming a ghost town, leaving Arl Eamon with far less power along with,
Isolde dying in childbirth, her and Eamon's daughter becoming a mage and being turned over the the circle
Good stuff for Sten, Oghren, and Shale
Both Wynne and Leliana were dead as they ganged up and tried to kill Alistair and my warden (though Alistair may have wished he could have joined them at that point)
Alistair did the ritual with Morrigan
Zevran and my warden of course rebuilt the grey wardens together, but that's standard for me.

Becoming the Dwarf king is awesome as well...(Put Harrowmont on throne, give boon to the dwarves, you become a Paragon, Harrow declares you his heir...)

Edit.
I'm doing another playthrough now, just for the ending. Female mage, romancing Alistair, planning to kill myself at the end.

Best end? For me as a HMN romancing Leliana, is the sacrificial end. BAR NONE. Three play throughs and very disappointed with each end, I finally figured I had to off my Warden (my favorite PC btw) to have the Epic ending I was looking for. It finally felt right.
I pretty much had the same mindset as you do.
On my first playthrough, I took Morrigans ritual...and it didnt feel right. Second playthrough, I sacrificed Loghain...which still didnt feel right.
Then I sacrificed myself on my third as a human male noble and it was the best ending. I had a lump in my throat, especially after I read about how Leliana took matters into her own hands and would soon join me.
But it IS the best ending in the game. It was a story of tragedy, love, and glory. I had high approval with my favorite party members. Such as Alistair, Stenn, Morrigan, Wynne, and Leliana. I didnt care to much for Zevran or Shale or Oghren. So reading there eulogys was cool, especially Stens where he said he bowed once before my remains, and told the Qunari there was one worthy person outside of his homeland.
A very sad ending, but very very satisfying. I wont be re-doing that playthrough.
