What is the difference between the save games and the Char_ files?  I've got Char_ files from ME1, but it doesn't look like my ME2 characters have Char_ files?  Not even the ones I've finished the game on.  Will missing them impact what I can being over to ME3?  What causes that file to be created instead of the normal save?  If I play DLC that I buy after I finish the game, will those stats and powers and items and such be lost?

Does anyone even know?   :-)
