So recently I noticed that a persuasion option was available to my paragon character when it was locked for my renegade character. However, my renegade character had more renegade points than my paragon character had paragon points. So shouldn't the renegade option have been available? Or are renegade persuasions just harder? Any clarification would be appreciated.

I believe some situations are easier for Paragons than Renegades, and vice versa. That said, it may be another factor like your level.

Yeah, I felt that way too. It also seemed like there were more opportunities to get Paragon points than Renegade. I easily maxed my Paragon meter in my first playthrough, but had to really struggle to get 4.5 bars of Renegade in my second.
