There are probably only limited number of story patterns in existence.
This statement combined with the bible's size yields a high probability that you can find analogues between any random non-bible story and a bible story, the chances of finding a analogue increase even further as more symbolic substitution happen.
So even if you find an analogue between a bible story and the Mass Effect narrative it could simply be incidental and nor really inspires. Also for sake of completeness: the bible itself has many inspiration sources for its stories clearly descended from earlier stories and myths told in the region.
As for names, since the bible has such an influence on western and world history it provides a very rich palette of names with deeply ingrained cognations.

Understanding Mass Effect and The Bible (rough draft)
"From my experience being Shepard and a Christian in the "Mass Effect" Universe and The Real World."
READ THIS WITH KNOWLEDGE AND IMAGINATION
I don't know if anybody is gonna read this, but I'll give it a shot. I believe that, Mass Effect Trilogy is good futuristic view of the bible chapter Revelations. *NOTE:* I don't believe everything in the Mass Effect Trilogy has to do with the bible, but alot good references from it. Also *NOTE*: if u do not have a mind to understand you will never believe anything I'm about to write to you just like the counsel and every one else sheaprd warned. There are two events that have been prophecied to take place The return of Christ and the rise of Antichrist. In Mass Effect there is one event, The return of the Reapers. The Reapers through out the Trilogy were known as a myth ( something that possibly exist but without proof probably not.). As we know (all the Shepards out there) the Reapers are a force that threatens all races in the galaxy. If you think about it who are the people that believe in our lifetime that some EVENT is going to happen now or in our near future.The Christians, right? The christians are like the main character, Shepard. NOTE: Even though Shepard saved the unverise ( in my story don't know if you followed the same path I did) he was ONLY HUMAN! DO NOT IMPLY HE WAS LIKE JESUS CHRIST BECAUSE HE DID THINGS THAT DID NOT MAKE HIM PERFECT IN ANY WAY!!! JUST A MAN TRYING TO SHOW THE TRUTH TO THE GALAXY AND IN THE END SAVE WHO HE COULD!!! THE CHRISTIANS IN THE SAME WAY ARE TRYING TO TELL THE TRUTH TO WORLD (IN MASS EFFECT, THE GALAXY) Now lets compare the Reapers to the Devil and his demons. The devil has a force of a 1/3 of fallen angels (THATS ALOT OF FALLEN ANGELS). The Devil (the Reapers) is a threat to all humanity (all organic species in Mass Effect Trilogy), yet we do not believe this enemy exist (Just like the counsel and everyone who didn't believe in the existence of the Reapers). As we play through the TRilogy ( For the people who just didn't play the 3rd one) we notice that Reapers have possibly much greater weapons: INDOCTRINATION AND DENIAL. If you play the game, they give a definition and examples of Indoctrination. The thing or word that stood out was INFLUENCE. Now as i said before many people in the world do not believe that devil exist(DENIAL). If you notice that on the citadel ( and other locations with Mass Relays) people not too many people worried about the Reaper threat either especially in Mass Effect 1 & 2. Also, there Reaper technology scattered around the galaxy that if you were around for an extended period of time, the process of Indoctrination was influencing you. Now considering that the Mass Relays, Reaper Tech, and the Citadel were created by the Reapers (confirmed by Prothean Javik) there INFLUENCE seemed to be..... POWERFUL! Now think about this in our world there seemed to be alot of INFLUENCES that seemed to be pressuring us (Sins such as liar, stealing, Murder, Adultry, Abortion, etc. and also Confusion and Deception) into becoming what we do, say, think, and walk this journey we call life. Am I right? Just like through out the game Shepard was faced with different decisions and choices through out the game. But anyway, the most powerful weapons The Reapers and The Devil used in the game and in real life was

So in the end its not a physical warfare, its also mental, but most importantly spiritual. We are only at the Beginning to the end ( In our real life "Mass Effect " story, Possibly the second game for me going into The Third). And we all have been given freewill to the choices of the life we want to live at beginning ( Shepards Inauguration into the Spectres). In the end destiny for us individually whether we chose to follow the ways of God (the warnings from the Protheans and good choices or Paragon) or the ways of the Devil (Indoctrinated life and bad choices or renagade) will decide or judgement in the end( The Final Catalyst choice on our life Heaven (the threat of Reapers or devil conquereed and Peace and Happiness) or Hell (Indoctrinated life brings the the fall of your humanity and forever torment).
