No. They'll be too busy ****ing up Fallout New Vegas to **** up Mass Effect 3.
They're making Fallout New Vegas? Huh, I actually have some hope it might be somewhat like the originals now. I thought Bethesda was making it.
Yeah it probably won't be bad. I can't see it beating Fallout 3 though unless Bethesda is working on it though.
Uh, fantastic job completely missing the point of my post. I'll admit that Fallout 3 was fun, but it raped the Fallout name and defiled the ashes of the first two. It was a good game. It wasn't a Fallout game.
/disagree
But to each his own. I love FO3 and am glad the canceled Van Buren or whatever the next FO was supposed to be named.

Yeah, I feel sorry for Alpha Protocol now....it's a great idea, but ME2 set the bar pretty high.

You do know that Van Buren wasn't cancled for FO3 don't you? Van Buren was in development before Interplay went bankrupt, four years before Bethesda bought the Fallout franchise and began development on FO3.
FO3 was a good game but it lacked the freedom of Fallout 1 and 2. Also, the story was just lame. They basically dug up a bunch of stuff from the first game and put it in FO3 for no reason. All the moral ambiguity was gone.

I'm expecting that the writing will be vastly better and less pants-on-head stupid. Given how important writing is to a good RPG, I guess this means that NV will probably end up being better than FO3 in my eyes.

I heard from a guy at gamestop (cashier) that they were farming the third game out to Obsidian? Is this rumor true? I still remember the mediocre job they did with KOTOR2.
Last I checked Mass Effect is under BioWare which is under Electronic Arts. EA sure has had an idiotic streak of churning franchises into mediocrity. But I think under the new leadership they aren't stupid to do a move like that.

Alpha Protocol is supposed to be a very different game than ME2. There's a lot more freedom in Alpha Protocol where the choices you make can impact the progression of the game.

Why would that happen? And you can't blame Obsidian for KOTOR2, that was LucasArts fault. Bastards wanted it out in time for the holiday season and rushed them, leaving the endgame horrible. Everything but the ending was great.
The lack of the HK factory, the warehouse explosion, Darth Scion vs Darth Nihilus, Darth Scion capturing your crew, the robot planet... OTHER than that, it was a decent game.

I hate that.
As for FO3, it was a great game. It was a Fallout game. Yes, it took certain liberties with canon, but that isn't a horrible thing with a new game after a long time. I've played all the FO games, and I think FO3 is a good successor. A lot of the 'FO3 isn't Fallout/it sucks!' thing tends to be of the 'They changed it, now it sucks!' rhetoric.

I really dislike Obsidian. And yes, I can 'blame' them for KotOR2. It's certainly true that Lucas didn't make it easier with their demands to rush the game. But Obsidian basically tried to turn Star Wars 'grim and gritty', something that is a key strategy of Obsidian at times. They like to 'subvert tropes' for the sole purpose of doing so then pat themselves on the back saying 'see? We didn't do X, we're edgy and unique!'
I hate that.
Star Wars was already "gritty." It was Star Wars that really popularized the whole "space is dirty and dangerous" theme in sci-fi. It was a contrast to the sterile and inquisitive nature of space exploration presented in Star Trek. The Millenium Falcon was a rusted bucket of bolts. Han Solo was a smuggler and a mercenary who dealt with dangerous criminals. It was Lucas who tried to clean up the whole franchise and made it kid friendly with the Ewoks, the crap with Greedo shooting first, and Jar Jar.
Obsidian simply brought back many of the ideas from the first two movies like people not trusting the Jedi or believing in the Force. There was a real struggle between the light and dark side. The Exile experienced the same kind of obstacles and doubts that Luke Skywalker had to overcome.
As for FO3, it was a great game. It was a Fallout game. Yes, it took certain liberties with canon, but that isn't a horrible thing with a new game after a long time. The problem with Fallout 3 was that it didn't have the same kind of freedom or moral ambiguity as the FO1 and 2, especially FO1. The Brotherhood of Steel in FO1 and 2 was basically a cult that cared more about technology than people. In FO3, they were the stereotypical honorable knights looking to restore order to the world. The super mutants in FO1 and 2 were not mindless brutes who exist for the sole purpose of giving you experience points. They were created as the next evolution of the human race. They were created to allow humanity to survive the harsh conditions of the wasteland.
