I remember not all that long ago when there was a question mark over the release of the level and area editors. Having finally got to play with them, all I can say is thank you.

They are brilliant, comprehensive, and altogether much more than I'd hoped for.

There is a learning curve, but it's not too bad. If you've tackled the NWN2 toolset it's all pretty self-explanatory once you've sorted the level/area connection.

It's a great relief to see such a comprehensive solution made available to people like me, who like the idea of working for a gaming company designing areas, but really can't get beyond the idea of leaving their home country to do it (or have the necessary skillset, whichever the case may be ;)).

A year ago I quit building for NWN2, and DA has taken so long to reach us, but having seen this toolset I can honestly say that it will satisfy the many, varied and thoroughly ambitious game desigs we amateurs have in mind.

I agree as well, when DA was first announced years ago, and it was mentioned it would NOT have a toolkit the game shifted off my radar for quite awhile. Then it changed to there being a toolkit but no level/area editor as those were being done in 3dmax lol, finally to now a fully featured tool and modkit at release. More difficult to use than NWN, but it is at least a complete one.

Happy days, the editor will suck away most of my free time for the next year :D
