I have searched the forums and haven't found anything like this; so if anyone else has experienced it or has a workaround, I would really appreciate it.  Warning: this is a little long, but I didn't know how else to explain it.

I have completed the game with two characters, have two others at roughly level 11, and three more at or before Ostagar.  Until now, the game has been relatively glitch free.  One of the level 11 builds is an elf-mage with the diffriculty set to casual as I was primarily using the character to try out abilities I hadn't used yet and don't really have the hang of.  I promise, there is a reason I'm telling you this.

I completed the Dalish recruitment quest and Warden's Peak without incident.  I picked up Zevran on my way to the Circle Tower, which was my next stop after Warden's Peak.  All was going well until I entered the Circle Tower.  I had Leliana, Allistair and Wynne with me.  In one of the rooms I picked up a symbol of Andraste and immediately gave it to Leliana to save room in my pack.  Before giving her the gift, her approval was at around 70%.  She said her, "Thank you.  Thank you so much." line, I got the approval for the gift, and moved on to continue exploring.  Shortly afterward, I switched to Leliana to open a chest and she repeated the "Thank you so much" line instead of her normal line of , "I'm here for you."  or whatever it was.  She repeated it again when I had her open a chest.  This repeated every time I switched to her.  Then I hit my next fight and suddenly my party had become walking hamburger meat.  No one seemed to be capable of hitting anything and the opponents were doing a ridiculous amount of damage. It was as if the opponents had suddenly switched to nightmare mode while my party had lost 10 levels.  When my mage attempted to cast an AoE spell, instead of casting it where I indicated, he would run to where I indicated and then cast it with himself in the middle, killing himself in the process.  A couple of times, spells only did damage to my party and not to any of the enemy.  I checked the difficulty level.  It was still set to casual.  Keep in mind that friendly fire isn't suppose to happen on casual.  I tried bumping it to normal then back to casual.  It had no effect.  When I checked on the status of my characters, somehow Leliana had jumped from just liking my PC to "adore".  My best guess is that every time what I thought was a dialogue glitch triggered, she was accruing approval.  After a couple of battles that should have been easy and instead were nearly impossible, I exited out of the game without saving.

I turned the X-box off and came back a day later.  I played with another character for a while, and everything seemed fine.  I reloaded the character with the glitch using a save before I had entered the Circle Tower, well before the glitch seemed to happen.  Everything looked the same when I examined the characters.  Leliana's approval was where it should be.  There was no dialogue glitch when I switched to her.  Everything seemed fine until I tried to talk to her.  She responded as if her approval was at 100 and I was romancing her.  I know there is a glitch with her in which she will respond as if the PC is romancing her no matter what if her approval gets high enough, but it shouldn't have been high enough yet.  It hadn't been when I made that save originally.  I took a party to get Shale, and everything was fine.  Combat went as it was suppose to.  All was well until I went to the Circle Tower again.  This time, Leliana wasn't even in my group.  I had Zevran, Wynne and Shale.  When the party is under attack, Shale won't respond unless I take direct control of her.  When I do, no matter how early in the battle it is, all of her abilities are on cooldown as if they have just been used.  No matter what chrystals I equip her with, she does no damage to anything but hunger demons.  Everyone else is suddenly immune to fire, cold, nature and lightening when she hits them (Immune! pops up over them every time she hits them, but my mages can damage them with all four).  Hunger demons are only susceptible to lightening.  Wynne will not cast healing spells until we are out of combat even though that is her very first tactics slot (ally--> health<50%--> use ability--> heal).  In fact, she isn't casting anything from her tactics.  She just fires regular attacks at the weakest opponent.  Zevran, on the other hand, is doing at least twice as much damage with every hit.  I have him dual wielding a Crow dagger and Olaf's cheese knife.  He is suddenly doing 40-60 points of damage with each.  As with Shale, all of his abilities are instantly on cool down as soon as the fight begins and he is unable to stealth.  Every time I try a message pops up that he doesn't have that skill at a high enough level (it's maxxed).  My PC is having the same issues with casting again, only now it is taking three tries for me to get my character to actually cast a spell.  I open the tactics menu, select a spell, it exits out as if the spell is casting and then my point of view suddenly changes so that I am looking at a wall or something and nothing has happened.  About half the time, the spell I selected will then go to cool down as if it was cast.  Spells from the entropy lines are being cast on myself.  I can't look around when attempting to cast AoE spells either.  My character's constitution has magically dropped to 10 (it was 13), and one or two hits from anything bigger than a rat is killing him off.  Wynne and Zev are now magically indestructible though.  I played through most of the Circle Tower with my PC dead and Shale literally staring at a corner in hopes that this stupid glitch would go away.  Most of the glitches seem to have gone away in the Fade.  The camera just switches to look at my characters face whenever I cast a spell so I am constantly having to pause to reposition the camera.

So, I again exited out of the character and shut the x-box down.  When I started it back up I checked all of my other characters.  Multiple saves from each are playing exactly as they should.  So, I reloaded my troublesome mage from even further back.  Again, at first glance, everything seemed fine, except some of my gear was magically upgraded all the way from iron or steel to silverite or dragonbone, and none of the merchants have any gifts or tomes nor any of the gear that any of my other PCs have purchased.    Merchants in all of my other playthroughs seem to be fine.

:blink::blink::blink:

I'm guessing I'm going to have to delete this character entirely; which is a pity, because for a total lark, he was kind of growing on me.  Has anyone else experienced this particular bit of lunacy, and if so, did it spread to your other characters?  I don't want to wreck them for Awakenings.
