Why do people keep insisting on stuff like that? From my perspective, Jacob and Anderson just happen to be black, just like Ashley, Kaidan and Miranda happen to be white. And you know? Also, I like that Garrus isn't beaten TOO much by Tali.  Garrus and Tali are the best squadmates evar.

Jacob is on the same line as Kaidan/Ash for me, also like Zaed - just feels like a regular merc.Sure he talks in an interesting manner, but that neither adds nor substracts from his character.

Well that poll reflects who someone's favourite squad member is, so Jacob may be liked by many but just not happen to be their favourite.

His loyalty mission is... fun? I've heard it described as disturbing, creepy and a lot of other negative things, but never 'fun'.

It's pretty kickass, and the way it's written feels like an homage to something literary.

 Um, I don't think he had exaggerated physical features at all.  He looks like he was (pretty accurately) modeled on a real person.  Would you rather he looked like a white guy with a painted on darker skintone? In fact they avoided a lot of tropes that a lot of media still falls into...like the hip, streetwise "black friend".  I'm not saying Jacob's the best character in the world but the LEAST of my complaints about him are racial portrayals.  If he's stereotypical anything, it's a generic space marine .

Oh, and don't forget Anderson.

Fair point, fair point; however out of 520 people not ONE person said they liked Jabob.

Even Morinth has a vote. Morinth.

That's pretty harsh considering he's the first character you meet in the game. Of over 500 people surveyed, he strikes out with not one person saying they like him - and whiltst I understand the nature of the poll, they're still not good odds. In fact, if you double the numbers, he'd still have zero. You can't do worse than that.

I am black and this thread is just..... wow.

Except for one or two stereo type moments, I thought Jacob was a great depiction of an African American male.



The only moment I even had a slight problem with was the "spill some wine on the citadel" . That was about it.
