How do you get her?  Its not when you're doing the Joining is it?

Also, someone said earlier that the only way to get Lellian was to get her  at the city you get Sten. What do i do if i already have sten and have left and cant go back?

You can't get leliana then. She's iether dead, slaughtered by the darkspawn, or with the survivors which you can't talk to. Sadly you've lost her. Wynne's in a mage tower.
