I can believe the beer part, but not the 60 in one shot part. Considering that pretty much everyone else agrees that 57 and possible 58 it the best you can do... consider that even 58 is only 542,100 xp, whereas 60 is 862,100. That's a huge chasm. We're talking 320k or %50 more xp. Even at level 60 I think you get something like 2k for the Maw's and Colossus'... that means I missed 100 of those somewhere plus a dozen quests.
There are unconfirmed infini spawns like the Geth destroyer charge on the citadel. But most reports say they stop after 10 or so. But still, you'd have to spend 10 hours or more just sitting there to make a dent in that 300k deficit.
EDIT: Throw in the fact that the lowest replay starting level I've seen anyone say they got to 60 the 2nd time through was around 43... That's only 144k out of the way to start with. So even with level xp scaling that indicates that indicates that roughly 720k xp are availible to the post level 40 start... which is still 140k shy of the goal. A week of constant beer could have let you forget you used the GiveXP command or started at level 45+ though. Or maybe 2 playtrhoughs kind of blurred into one. I could get through twice and hit level 60 in a week no sweat.

Yep 60 in one, even with DLC just is not possible (without using a glitch or console). The best I've ever managed is 57. There have been a few 58's but it takes careful management of xp gain and killing pretty much everything on foot.

No DLC and killing about 66% of things outside of the MAKO (I also didn't kill all the thresher maws. There are some random maws on worlds) got me to level 57. About 15K from level 58. Killing everything would probably get you close to (if not at) 59. DLC can't get you all the way there?

I've never seen a credible report of 59 in one shot... you don't even get that close to it. From what I can tell 58 is just barely reachable and only a small number of people have done that.

Just finished an Insanity playthrough and did most of the killing on foot, and I mean most of it. When you are going system to system to stop the geth invasion there is a part where you have to take out a dropship that keeps dropping shock troops, I just bring it up because it seems you can keep killing the troops to get XP before blowing up the dropship.

Anyway, I reached level 57 from level 1, and I think thats as high as a single playthrough will get you.

I only got to level 49, an inch away from 50 which is what I wanted...but alas I'll begin again.

I didn't know about the Mako killing penalty. Next time I'll be more vigilant.

Inaccurate.  Experience multiplied by level.  Not really more.  No net effect.

I made it to level 50 on my first playthrough with no problem. On my second playthrough I killed everything on foot whenever possible. Even ground based missle launchers. The only time I stayed in the Mako was when there was an environmental hazzard. I opened every crate and safe in the game and I did all the DLC missions.

I made it to level 60 on my second playthrough but I was talking to Vigil when I got it. So, it was almost a photo finish. On the filp side, when I imported to ME2 with my level 60 character, I got 60,000 of each element, started at level 5, got to pick a bonus power (loyalty mission powers) and got 350,000 credits to start. However I had already beat ME2 once with my level 50 ME1 import character.

So, it went like this: Beat ME1 and got to level 50. Imported level 50 ME1 save and beat ME2 including all loyalty missions. Went back and played ME1 again to get to level 60. Imported level 60 ME1 save and started ME2 with some crazy bonuses.

Even on the very first play through it is possible to get 50 without getting out of the Mako to kill everything, assuming you have both DLC.

But I feel your pain, but then a rerun should get you to level 60 Posted Image

You can get it in 2 only if you kill every enemy on FOOT. No MAKO!

I started my second game @ lvl 50 on Hardcore (with xp bonus) and got EVERY collectable, did EVER quest, and found nearly (a few short) every mineral... and I ended the game at 40K shy of level 60.

I. Was. So. Pissed.

Had I killed every enemy on foot, I'd have hit 60. :(

I did basically the same thing (but on Insanity) - I was level 59 at the end of my second playthrough. Because I absolutely hate starting a game with an already created and leveled character, this was more of a chore than anything for me. I could not bring myself to finish the third playthrough - I got level 60 for the achievement and left it at that, then xferred my level 59 character to ME2.

But yeah, like most are saying, I really do not think it is possible to hit in one playthrough without some form of cheating.

I can say it is not possible. I started a new character (it was my 7th playthrough). I wanted to see how high I could level on one playthrough. When I got to 50, I could no longer gain xp. I needed to start a new game+ to continue to level 60. (console version).

Then you experienced a bug, I'm afraid.  On PC I have gotten level 56 on a single playthrough.  Others have reported that 57 is the highest attainable level on a single playthrough without cheats or exploits.

Not a bug. If it's your first time on a profile the cap is 50. You have to hit 50 once before the level 60 cap unlocks.

Read what I had quoted in my last post.  The poster had said it was his 7th play through.  If that's true, then there shouldn't be a cap.

That doesn't mean he's using the same profile. He could have deleted his old one, or somehow reset the achievements. If he stopped at 50, it's definitely an issue of the achievement that raises the cap not being unlocked.

I assumed I would have been able to get past 50 in one playthrough. I had completed every achievement and it was my 7th playthrough. If it was a bug, then I'll see what happens. I'm on an 8th play and will do a 9th for some extra import characters for ME2, I'll see what happens. Also, I've only played on one playthrough.

On my third playthrough I did the bare minimum to get what I wanted into the save for ME2.. it wasnt bad with targetting on high and on easy, with level X weapons, etc.

I thought ME1 was capped at level 50 on a first playthrough?
