It is. But not for each character you create. Once the level 50 achievement is unlocked, the level 50 cap goes away for all new characters.

If you have no life, in theory you can actualy make a level 60 character in one run after getting the achivment... there are two exp glitches in the game that you can exploit to get ~150 xp each time... but it requires saving the game, reloading it, beating a hacking minigame each time... but it would actualy take longer to grind that way than it would playing a game+ character with doing all the quests possible.

I think I'm going to do it this time! I'm level 55, I've still got four of the Armstrong missions to do (I got 10,000XP from Hong alone!) Garrus's mission, "my" mission, Virmire, the last two Citadel Missions and Illos.

I got my first playthrough to 43, but didn't do all of the sidequests. I'm playing through a second time as a different Shepard, on Hardcore and doing all sidequests to get the Completionist achievement, hoping to get her to 50. I was hoping I could using my existing level 43 Shepard to start a new game on Insanity and hit 60 with him - the end goal being to import both Sheps to ME2 - but from all I've seen/heard, I'm better off starting a new Shep for Insanity and playing twice to make sure I hit 60.

I doubt it. To go from 55 to 60 is like 498,000 xp. You might be able to do 55 to 60 in a completely fresh play through but with just that little bit left there just isn't enough experience to do it.

You CAN reach 60 in one playthrough. There is one corridor that I know of on the final mission where you are outside the citadel that has infinite respawns of Geth on the other side. One Geth hunter will spawn every 10 seconds if you're standing in the right position. The Geth will charge you, and you can easily just lift them repeatedly.

That said... it would be really boring, so you're better off just doing 2 complete playthroughs and killing all mobs from outside your vehicle to reach 60.

You would need 700k XP to get from level 43 to 60.

The spawning there is not infinite.   If you kill enough geth they quit coming.  There are no infinite spawn points in the game.  I know which corridor you're talking about after I'd guess 10 to 15 geth, they just stop coming.  It's the same with the dropship where you activate the turret.  Eventually they just stop.

The only way to get to 60 in one pass is to use an exploit or the command console.  Otherwise it will take 2 play throughs.

Pay more attention to the INCR than the actual number. The "extra" I need is actually a lot less than that (because XP Scales).

Remember that I also have the entire Virmire vehicle mission to do on foot, 4 more Geth Colussus in the game, every Krogan Battle Master in the game, and at least 2 more Threshers in the game.

Considering that I made it to level 57 last time killing almost everything from the Mako (and I found a lot less minerals and threshers in that playthough) I think I have a chance.

Nope 57 to 60 is nearly 2/3 of a play through.  Been there, done that.  There really just isn't enough xp, with only Virmire, Ilos and the Citadel, you can probably make 57, maybe 58 but that really is about it.  I've done probably 20 to 30 play throughs and it will take a another pass.

I suspect with the release of ME 2 that we're seeing a new crop of players for ME 1.  They probably never read the old ME 1 bio boards before it moved over to the social site.  This is probably why we're seeing help me with my build threads too.  I just wonder how long it is until the AR vs. Pistol debate rears it's head again.

Yes. Unfortunately, not everyone has been playing ME1 every hour of every day since its release.

Oh god no. We just need a redirect to the 100 pages of dissension and math from the old forum showing that everything you think you could say about that topic has already been said.

This is my 10th playthru of Mass Effect 1, so I might suggest that the reason more people are posting is that interest has been universally increased for Mass Effect 1 with the new-found relevance of the series, though that might hurt your e-ego.

Was 56 by the end of Armstrong, and got 40K from the approach to the Salarian Camp. I may not hit 60, but I'll beat your estimate. Oh, and yeah 2/3 of the game huh? Ever think that might have something to do with the fact that the bosses in the first half are the minions of the second?

Beat my estimate of 57-58? If you hit 59 in one playthrough without using an exploit or cheat, you'll be the first. Make sure to take a screen shot.

Not the first. It's possible if you do EVERYTHING like you should (get exp as colsest to full level, kill out of mako, do every mission, pick renegade options when you can kill someone instead of talking... basicaly kill every single enemy there is)... remember that after compleating collections you still can find resources and they still grant exp. Level 59 is a go.

No ego involved.  I just think we're seeing a new crop of players.  This is a good thing.  It will give Bioware more money to continue making games that I like to play.Posted Image

Okay, while I work on my Calculus and eventually get back to finishing the game, you figure out a way for me to "prove" my last level being a legit first-run.

I guess a video of me loading my first and last saves would show it, but that could be manipulated...

Nah if you actually make it I've got no reason not to believe you, I just don't think it can be done.  If you make it congrats.

It is possible, but you have to use a "cheat". I am on the XBOX and when you first meet Liara and she is trapped inside the "bubble", after you first conversation with her, save your game and then load it back up, you will gain experience. Save again, and load it up, and you'll get the experience again. I sat down one day and started this cheat at level 7, 3 1/2 hours later I was level 60. With each level you gain more experience, but of course it takes more experience to get to the next level. If you want to hit it in one playthrough it is possible with this "cheat".

There is no way you did this in 3 1/2 hrs.
I have done it 2 different ways--
Started at 10, it took me 5 hrs to get to level 50.
I also started at level 32 and its taken me just over 5 hrs to reach level 57.

Its gotta be faster to just play it over and over.

58 is here. Unfortunately so is Illos. Will post final rank and XP distance from 60 in the next 24 hours.
