58 is here. Unfortunately so is Illos. Will post final rank and XP distance from 60 in the next 24 hours.

You may or may not stop there. Either way, there really is no way for you to reach Level 60. If you don't know, the gap between 59 and 60 is ridiculus. So at best, you'll make it to 59, but not 60.

I know, hence the "XP distance from 60" Image IPB

Mass Effect Wiki seems to think that the Geth Hallway can be infinite though. If it is, I'll post my rank before it, then play to 60.

Never mind actually, either I misread it or it's been edited. I only offer that possibility because it's been tagged.

The Geth hall is not infinite. I'm absolutely sure on that. There are no infinite spawn points in the game.

And really... would you want to stand around killing one destroyer every 10 seconds for hours on end? I'd rather GiveXP 400000 and be done with it.

Yeah that would just be unhealthy. It's obvious that you're not meant to get to Level 60 in a single run no matter what.

Ironically, consoles lack console commands.

Highest I've ever gotten in one playthrough was 48 I think...you have to be extremely dedicated to get to 60 in one playthrough, and I don't really see the point in it. It would be much faster to just start another campaign after and get the points that way. I know some people do things just so they can accomplish them though. Good luck if anyone does this.

Level 55 was the highest I've ever gotten in one run. I seem to remember one of the developers saying something like it's not possible to get to 60 in one playthrough. That was way back, though -- when we were on the Community forums.

I'm personally convinced that it's perfectly possible to reach 58 or -- though to a lesser extent -- 59 in one play, but that would be very time-consuming and you would have to play a little more methodically. Not 60, however -- for the reason I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread.

I managed to get to level 54 in a single playthrough, and I was pretty thorough about it; completed all assignments, talked to every single person for Codex entries, explored every planet, went above and beyond for all the collection assignments... Although I didn't make use of 'repeating' enemies from Geth dropships and the like.

the max level i have got in a single plathrough is 58 and i destroyed turrets outside of mako. The DLC's will get you a long way,but i think it's impossible to get to 60.

On a second playthrough, started at level 52. Should it be easy to get to level 60?

Yes.  Kill everything on foot.  Should not be a problem.

Does killing in the Mako reduce EXP? And if so is a Thresher Maw defeatable on foot!?

Got all the achievements that boost XP progress, had BDtS installed, killed almost everything on foot, pretty sure I exhausted all the assignments and made it to level 53. More than good enough for me.

It's really hard to get the achievements in ME1. ME2 is a CAKEWALK in comparison. ALSO, does using your party members abilities on the menu add to the achievements for biotic, tech, weapon usage? Also do you have to achieve that number on ONE playthrough to unlock it?

The answer is no to both of your questions. Anyway, I've got to go. Astronomy class starts in less than 20 minutes.

I believe blowing things up with the Mako does reduce your XP gain, since it's easier to kill things when you're in a tank (no matter how badly it handles) than it is when you're on foot.  That said, it IS possible to beat a Thresher Maw on foot, you just need help from the Mako.

Specifically, pound the TM down a few times until it's reduced to a sliver of health, then pile out of the Mako and unload on it.  Circle-strafing is probably the best way to do this without getting killed.

That said, I'm in the middle of the Geth Incursion assignment and the Geth Colossus on Antibaar is a complete and total pain.  Currently I'm playing a Vanguard on Hardcore difficulty.  After quite a few failed attempts, I eventually broke down and just killed the damn thing in the Mako.  And this was after doing the aforementioned killing-a-TM-on-foot bit on the very same planet!  I was able to drop the two Geth Primes on foot afterwards, but most of the other Geth got cleaned out by the Mako.  I was just too tired and frustrated to worry about wringing out every little bit of XP from the encounter.  In this play-through I'm 35 with plenty of assignments between me and Virmire.  The goal is to hit 50 at least, and unlock Insanity for my fresh Infiltrator start.  I anticipate two play-throughs there, so he can hit 60.

OT: At this rate, it might be possible to hit 60 in one play-through, but I'm not planning on it.

It's completely possible to kill a thresher without using the mako at all. It is simply a matter of staying out of melee range and circle strafing it. Just keep shooting eventually it will go down. Powers such as warp and bastion stasis can make this easier.

Or you can damage it enough with the Mako until its health bar nears the end, then quickly find a safe spot to step out of the Mako and finish it off with your shotgun/assault rifle as soon as it pops back up.

Easier and less time-consuming.

It depends on your equipment and level. At higher levels with better equipment, especially if I have a party member or character with warp I can clear threshers faster by circle strafing.
