Could that be done, so that a male hairstyle could be used for a female character during creation? (Or vice versa.) In Morrowind it was easy to add new physical features to a race and gender in the construction set, but without some mesh editing (beyond the scope of the construction set, and beyond mine :P) it could look mighty odd because different size and shape of the heads could lead to significant clipping or gaps.

There are some male hairtyles I really wouldn't mind having for the ladies ...

Considering that many of the male hairs are long and shaggy-haired and ponytail, I can see how they'd fit well enough on a woman.

This is one of the thing's you probably will not know until the game is released, I think.

I certainly hope so, but then I'd be changing my main's hairstyle too. Hopefully I can make this switch before uploading, or without having to start completely over, should it be made available in the future :D

Seems a bit of gender-envy can create new mods, or hair-styles. Who needs hair anyway...

Now that the game is out, is there anyone who can port the male hairstyles for use by female characters? I'm particularly interested in elves, but I'm sure other people would like this too.

It really sucks that the men in this game have better haircuts than the women. Bioware, you sexists! Give us hair equality! :)

Well, considering that hair styles are really just one half of the head model, my concern was whether the heads would "fit" - that is, whether the head shape for males and females was identical.

I looked at some random hairstyles, like these Posted Image, and as far as I can see, the head shape is indeed the same, so yes....it should be possible to copy them around (within each race, that is - you cannot turn an elf hairstyle into a human/dwarff one except with modeling work)..

Well, that's a good start! I still want Morrigan hair for elves, but I'll start with some of the less plastic haircuts that the boys have.

Edited to add: Wow, this toolset really needs a "for dummies" setting. I'm having problems even finding the correct files!  I can find the files in the toolset but can't open just the hairstyles--because I don't understand this thing yet. It looks as if I should be able to just copy and rename or do Save As to get the right prefix on it, and it should turn up in the character creator. Is this right or am I way off? So, help, please....somebody? (And use short words)

I've been wrestling with how to export elf male hairstyles for elf female PCs use problem all day. It won. The idea is simple, the implementation is beyond me. Can somebody either help me with this or tell me where to find help or just do it?

I'm so over that toolset. It works, but it's like pieces are missing.

Bump, because it's now 2am and I'm still going crazy trying to get this seemingly simple idea to work.

In the morph editor you can only choose the styles for your gender and race BUT if you type in the name yourself you can have all the hairs.

Still a problem remains, the hairs for differend genders and races are at different heights, so not even an elf male hair will work on an elf female.
