is fortification/barrier/GSB working as intended? Vid evidence, devs please help!!

i believe, and i could be wrong, but if your extra shields take dmg, then you duck behind cover and wait for a regen, then they will refill, so a duration is still useful, especially outside of insanity.

i agree completely with you on the balance issue, but this thread was asking whether these bonuses worked correctly, and has now turned into a "viability on insanity" thread more than anything else.

also, putting more pts into these abilities does increase the shield bonus and not the duration, its only at the top tier that you can choose to extend the duration over the added shield bonus.

Barrier/GSB/Fortification are the best 1 point bonus powers to take. Basically, they work like Combat/Tactical/Basic Armor used to work in the first game. The only difference is that you had to spend 12 points in ME1 to get Master Shield Boost that allowed you to regenerate 100% of your shields over 2 seconds. While In ME2 you get a BONUS point that allows you to regenerate 125% of your shields instantly, which also allows you to max 5 other skills. So, perhaps it is a bit unfair that some people say these powers are useless.

true, but I think the problem for most lies with the global CD it invokes rather than the effects it causes, especially for the Vanguard or Soldier where you're using your main ability every 4-5 seconds all the time.
