Well, by this point, you should have access to Templar, Shapeshifter, Bard, and Berserker.

Assuming you're not a jerk to your party members. :)

Plus any that you happen to have bought along the way.

I was 100 approval with Morrigan and she still wouldn't teach me. Such a hater.

I finally gave up and bought the darn book.

Yes, one of the things that I thought needed a lot of improvement was the pace of specialization. Now, one can specialize at 7. If one wants to be a templar or a shapeshifter, maybe you can get the rep and get it done. I also know that you can buy a book for ranger and templar, but man, they are expensive at lower levels.

As for the others, bard is another one you should be getting early if you want. The irony being of course if you want to be a bard, you won't really be lugging the other bard around, and hence your chance of getting the influence for such a thing is lowered.

My particular gripe was being a human warrior. With the whole theme of betrayal and all, I had set my heart on being a reaver, drawing power from the fall of my foes as my righteous wrath cuts a bloody swath through those who would oppose my just quest. Of course, the opportunity to be a reaver comes around 11 or so at the earliest, and you have to be an evil ass to get it. So no go.

Now, I can conceptually understand why Bioware made specs this way: replayability. My warrior has unlocked more rogue and mage specs than warrior ones, despite the fact that Alistair and I have all but cuddled (he got his shiny panties in a wad over blood mage and the terribly written dialogue didn't allow you to throw the obvious contradiction back in his face, but that is neither here nor there). The thing is, players shouldn't be shoe horned into replaying to get the experiance they want, they should be enticed by variations, and I feel Bioware fell just shy of that.

Oh, and not to be a broken record, but I just watched one single freaking dog overwhelm my warrior and eat his face. Is my game broken and I am the only who hates these freaking dogs? I mean, I was able to do redcliff on hard, but dogs hand my mauled testicles to me.

I want to be a ranger and at level 11 I have no clue how to get this. Outside of buying that ridiculously overpriced book for 15 gold is there a way to get ranger specialty? I'm 4 levels past 7! What gives BIOWARE????

Got champion at level 8 so the opportunity at least for me to get reaver was the same so it really depends on the order you do things. I went straight to redcliffe and want to deal with loghain asap.  There is a list on these forums that have all the possible options for specialization. Could trying searching.

Level 13 warrior. I've managed to unlock Templar, Bard, and Duelist. I have no idea how to get the warrior specializations, and can't get Morrigan to give up shapechanging or Wynne to talk about spirit healing (I assume she teaches it.)

I think wynne does. you can get champion at the end of the ashes quest and buy bezerker i think in denerim during some event. (trying not to spoil too much). Im assuming oghren can teach it too.

Luckily, I don't plan on specializing with my first mage. My mage is level 13 and, out of the mage specializations, I've only unlocked Shapeshifter.

On the other hand, I've unlocked Champion and Templar and all the rogue specs.

To finish unlocking the Rogue specs, I bought the Ranger book. If there is another way to get it, I don't know it.

Hmm... so far I've unlocked Blood Mage and Bard. Leliana is pretty nice about teaching the latter quickly. Morrigan not teaching Shapeshifter until you deal with her mother makes sense, because no matter how much she likes me, she refuses to share those secrets. =P

I have to agree with the sentiment expressed earlier though. Most of these specializations are unlocked so late, or made so inconvenient to acquire, that you won't get to enjoy them until deep into the game or on a subsequent playthrough. That is unless the one you're aiming for is easy to acquire. I can't imagine most players having access to a specialization at level 7 during their first game.
