I normally build a char thinking along the lines if he's going to be force for good or he'll be wicked? With the options I have with the CC, it becomes fun to create the "paladin" and the "villain" chars. So far, I think my experiences have been unsucesseful. But I'm trying...

To me, I put more effort into thought of the class and look of my character initially. Later, while in-game and faced with choices, I decide what decision most appeals to me. So, in a sense, little  premeditation on character alignment.

Yes I am guilty of this. My current Avatar has a passing resemblance to me, minus the tattoo and I used to have the exact same haircut but my hair is longer now.

There is the "heavy" version, in which you assume a character vastly different that yourself, whose in-game actions (and presumably, looks) are very different from yours.  This is usually considered the "pure" form of role-playing, more akin to what an actor strives for.

That would be pretty much what I do. Maybe it's at least partly because I've been acting as long as I've been roleplaying, and probably enjoy them both for much the same reasons. Playing myself in a game just isn't fun for me. I already am me every day. I'd much rather play someone completely different.
have sometimes fiddled around in the various character creators to see if I could make a character that looks like myself, but I've never really managed to. Even if I did, I wouldn't play that character, or if I tried, I'd probably lose interest in it after a few minutes.

I made my guy look like me, but of course I added the tattoos cause I thought it looked interesting.

Character? Nah. Not really.

Now the forum portrait - that's much closer to the truth.

Nope, never tried to make a character look like me in a game, although the males would probably look better if I did. Or...wait...oh, nevermind. I like the escapism of gaming, playing a different character altogether rather than trying to play me, even if it's only superficial looks.

I did try it out with Home on the PS3. I showed Home to my sister when she was by for a visit and she exclaimed that it was me. We got a kick out of it, but that's about as close as I'd come.

Might try it out, though, just for the fun of it with the CC.

Never really tried to make a character like myself, i tend to make male characters that are really different from myself like dwarves or gnomes, or i will make my dream girl. But then again i rarely manage to roleplay something other then myself. I never manage to play personalities vastly different from myself and playing through as evil for example just become more of a task just to see how it plays but i rarely enjoy it much. Unless im in a really angry mood or something but that never lasts for a full playthrough of anything. Then again the super good guy doesn't appeal to me either, consider myself chaotic good.

Goodness, no. I would find it intensely STRANGE to roam the countryside with an avatar resembling myself. Not to mention watching my 'character' interact with party members and get down and dirty with romance sexytimes? That'd break the fourth wall and go right into 'I need therapies' land for me.

I might try and make the skin and hair colour the same as myself, but I never try and copy my appearance totally. I might copy the high forehead and squat nose that inhabits my face in real life, but overall the character will be much better looking than yours truly. Although I am capable of growing an epic beard in real life.

Its more of a discovery to see where your mentality and morals would take you in a different adventerous setting
It also adds in immersion for me. Just playing instead of always thinking ""what would the character i am roleplaying do in this instance""

Though i admit the sex-scenes are a bit awkward to play through. You kinda feel like a perv in need of counseling for having an avatar of yourself at that time.

Nah in those scenes its much better if you just made a lesbian character.

Why even try? The character creator isn't able to capture my long, luxurious, and curly hair or my honest and noble features.

I don't generally make characters that look like me. Sometimes I do, on a whim, but mostly in games without an online presence. I guess Moll somewhat resembles me in the chin/lower jaw and the hair color, but she doesn't really look like me when you get down to it.  It wasn't intentional that she resembled me at all.

To a degree I tend to do it without really thinking about it.

I dont think i've made a clean shaven character in years for example... I have a beard IRL. I also tend towards longer hairstyles, I have relatively long hair IRL.

Pretty general though - not really achieving likeness, just a few points of similarity.

Hey, renting means interchangability. This must not be underestimated. Okay, I will stop this train of thought before it goes further into the tunnel of depravity.

Well, my avatar was modeled after myself, but I doubt that will be an actual character of mine. I generally do try to make characters that are similar to me. Most will have blonde hair and green eyes, unless those options are not available or are atrocious. (For instance, my F!Revan was that popular blue-eyed, black-haired, ponytailed model.) Most of my first characters start out with similar-ish moralities (that resemble my own translated into the setting) that then branch out as different experiences define them. Often times, I will only have a general idea of their personality when I start, and that tiny bit it what I sense from my character's appearance.

tl;dr Yes, I do.
