Ladybright.... Luv your avatar,,,Ladybright wrote...
Well, my avatar was modeled after myself, but I doubt that will be an actual character of mine. I generally do try to make characters that are similar to me. Most will have blonde hair and green eyes, unless those options are not available or are atrocious. (For instance, my F!Revan was that popular blue-eyed, black-haired, ponytailed model.) Most of my first characters start out with similar-ish moralities (that resemble my own translated into the setting) that then branch out as different experiences define them. Often times, I will only have a general idea of their personality when I start, and that tiny bit it what I sense from my character's appearance.
tl;dr Yes, I do.

Goodness, no. I would find it intensely STRANGE to roam the countryside with an avatar resembling myself. Not to mention watching my 'character' interact with party members and get down and dirty with romance sexytimes? That'd break the fourth wall and go right into 'I need therapies' land for me.
It also adds in immersion for me. Just playing instead of always thinking ""what would the character i am roleplaying do in this instance""
Though i admit the sex-scenes are a bit awkward to play through. You kinda feel like a perv in need of counseling for having an avatar of yourself at that time.
Nah in those scenes its much better if you just made a lesbian character.
ROTFFL......great great POST!

There's nothing to be ashamed of there. My avatar is as close to me as I could get. Escapism is one of the most prominant purposes of art. I think we all boot up our games primarily to take a break from reality.Magonian wrote...
OK..OK.. I admit it..... If any RPG gives the option to create your own PC's ingame look I've always tried to make the final product look as close to my auctual face as possible (honestly so I can really feel like I'm leaving this World and entering another....LOL...escape dammn you escape...!!)
Comon now...be honest, how many of you do the same thing?
And before you wise ASSSES say a word...Yup I admit I wont be the best looking PC roaming the country sides of DA...hehe

Basically what I'm saying is that I'm just too high-poly IRL for these wimpy engines
I do usually include a couple of my features though -- big nose, big mouth, and high cheekbones.

Toronous. ... I hear yaa, facial structure I did spend about an hour on and got it to about 70% but the hair, eyes, nose and mouth are about 90% dead on,,,, scary....Toronous wrote...
Honestly, Megonian, I sort of do the same thing. I try to incorporate some of my physical characteristics into my character, such as hair, eyes, and stuff like that. Although what I usually don't change much of the facial structure because it's usually too specific for me.

Okay, that's me trying to make a joke about thread necromancy. Actually with a topic as interesting as this one and the boards so busy, I don't really mind.
In answer to the question, I make my portrait look as much like me as possible, just like the OP. I want it to be ME inside the game!
In fact, I've been known to play obssessively with the character creator for hours and to restart the game over and over trying to get my portrait just right!
What I've wound up with looks pretty close to me if I was 75 pounds or so lighter and/or about 15 years younger. One of the weaknesses of the character generator is that it won't let you gain weight. Apparently, fat people don't exist in Ferelden.
(Except maybe that bartender in Redcliff. That should have been a playable body type. Modders? I guess the problem is in clothes and armor and stuff - having fat people would require a whole other set of 3d models for all the outfits.)
