Hello, when I first tried to start the DLC through services.msc as others have suggest, I kept getting the error:1053 and I could not find any other solutions to this problem. However, by using the following steps I can now download all the DLC I got from the redeem codes:

-download http://cid-27e6a35d1...leanup_tool.zip

-run the .exe

-select Framework 2.0

-restart system

-download http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

-install it

-go back and start Content Updater from services.msc

And you should find all your redeemed content ready to download in game. Hope this helps!

I did a full system recovery (xp service pack 3 update made my computer NOT BE ABLE TO START UNDER ANY SETTINGS) (lost my savegame too, but all I'd finished was Redcliffe and Circle Tower) and then installed a new Microsoft.NET Framework, did the installutil on daupdatersvc.service.exe thing, and it worked fine. This was after spending several hours over 2 different days trying everything and its grandma to make the dlc work.

I have this problem also, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the updater via CMD. I have installed both these programs and run them and still no solution. The main error I get is a 1053 when I try to force start it.

Any other options?

Same as above for me too, getting really frustrated with this.

I am also running a clean install of windows, formatted and reinstalled XP and updated to service pack 3. Didn't work, tried the uninstall/reinstall via CMD, and the programs listed above as well, still nothing.

I try to force start it and I get the Windows is attempting to start..... window that has the bar fill to about 1/2 way then slow to a crawl followed by the Error 1053.

Same issue. I've installed and uninstalled .NET so many times. That's not it. The service is not responding to the start command. Why? I've re-installed the game too with no effect. Could it be that there's simply a bug in the service exe? Tech support for this game is non existent. I've had a chat session with a level 1 know nothing, and am still waiting for a response from a higher level for 2 weeks now.

Issue still exists it seems. Hesitate to use the 'fix' described above, as I suspect this would mess up other programs that use dot net. Muh.

I too have had problems with this. Tech support just keeps sending me to FAQs that don't address the problem

How long should it take for the microsoft .net framework version 2.0 redistributable package thing to install? It has been stuck on this step for quite a while, "Executing: 'C:\\WINDOWS\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727\\RegSvcs.exe' /bootstrapi".
