Aw, poor Oghren...

I feel kind of bad -- I bet they would have made a bigger deal and maybe given him his own promo video if he hadn't gotten such a grumpy reaction on the forums. And, really, I think only a small minority actually dislikes him -- people just were disappointed not to be getting their love interests back.
So this is the official "We don't hate you, Oghren" thread. The poor guy is an alcoholic with PTSD, he doesn't need hate from a bunch of nerds on the internet on top of it.

I was disgruntled at first at the Oghren choice, but now there's other more important problems to address.

He wasn't particularly useful in a fight so he can stay and guard the base.

I've heard that two-handers get good at the very top end of the Origins level range (I haven't tried one myself) -- so who knows, maybe Oghren will be a DPS monster in Awakening.

Pretty much.
It is kind of interesting seeing posts shift from "Quote all the funny stuff that Oghren says!" from shortly after launch to the "He doesn't need a promo video, we know who he is. Crude, red-haired, drunk at knee-length." posts of now.
Apparently Oghren is only liked when he doesn't take the spot of another companion.
Poor, poor Oghren.

I wouldn´t even like him, if my only other companion was a rusty spoon.
Out of my anti-hate thread, hater! Don't you realize that silverware and fictional characters have feelings?

I don't hate him at all, I just found him boring. He was a mildly entertaining conversation to have at camp for me and that's about it.

He was boring probably because Bioware didn't want to develop his character too much, so now they have material to use in Awakening. All Oghren had as a back story was his hook up with Felsi and he starting drinking when Branka left. It was really hard to get Oghren's bar to its max because there wasn't much to talk to him about, mind you it was very possible to max out if you planned your gift giving well. For the rest of the companions there is more of a sense of closure I feel, but that's just me.

But Oghren is yesterday's news, people have new stuff to complain about now!

I love Oghren and I was glad to have him along. Every future King needs a drunken ally to improve his reputation.
Oghren is the friend you bring along whenever you go out; the funny, slightly overweight one who isn't as sucessful as you and makes you look that much better.

Off-topic, but yes. The game will remember and reflect all major player choices for imported character saves -- the "ultimate sacrifice" issue aside.
But -- more attention for Oghren. He is a redhead with braids. Is he nothing more than a ripoff of Pippi Longstocking? Discuss.
