I saved, the game, then bought the ranger manual from Bodahn to see what the ranger skills would be like.

I reloaded the game, and now he doesn't have the manual anymore...and I do not have the specialization unlocked...

Is there a workaround or another place to learn the ranger specialization?

if you saved before buying it, then of course, you don't have it any more... did you check the vendor?

When I said "he" I meant the vendor, not my character. My character is female.

It seems that this is true with any Manual I purchase. After buying it, even reverting to a previously saved game, its gone from the vendor...

This "is" a bug but not the kind you think... if you buy the manual and then reload prior to buying it... you still have the manual feature unlocked. Basically, you can get all the skill manuals for free :)

I am borrowing Dragon Age from a friend. I've only played part way through as Mage/Arcane. I decided to try a Rouge/Ranger, but much to my surprise that the Ranger Tome is not available at the Party Camp like *everywhere* on the 'net says it is. I'm on the PS3 if that makes a difference. I've seen two other posts (one here, one via Google) with this problem—anyone know what the issue is? Do I have to go do something else, somewhere else, to make it available at the Party Camp?

EDIT: I just checked my much higher level Mage, he can't see it in the party camp store either (only the Physical and Arcane tomes). Do I need some of the DLC to make it show-up? Is there *any* other way to get a Ranger started?

Nevermind I found it. "Booo...hisssss...." to Bioware—they put SOME manuals/tomes under one category (the "necklace icon"), and some of them other another category. Found the Ranger Manual under the "Diamond icon" category in the Party Camp.

A book is a book is a manual is a book. Just put them all in the same place. >:-p

I've previously purchase the ranger manual from the party camp. It said unlocked. But it's not... I'm now level 14, have 2 specialization point. But I can't unlock the ranger class. Is this a serious bug? I can't reboot for a PS3 like a PC.

So, to get the ranger ability(class) you need to find a book?

-- hmm --

Is this the only class that I seem to be missing out on?

Can I like get game support from the developers on this? Gosh, feels like a major glitch and I see so many people asking about this

Here's some VERY strange info on the "missing Ranger book":

Ever since Bodahan turned up in Camp I could buy it and the templar book from his store. (But I didn't).

But since recently they are both gone from from the store. I loaded some old saves where I knew that the book previously was present, but all the way back to saves from when I first met Bodahan in Camp, both books are gone! This means something made them completely disapear regardless of the fact that they DID exist in his Store previously.

The things I've done prior their disappearance is DL'ing Stone prisoner and Wardens keep and installed them. Can be a coincidence, but can be that something happened bcz of them.

So now I can't be Ranger as I had planned with my character. As previously stated, this should be a major concern for the developers to solve!!!

L0bban, does Ranger still show up as locked when you level up a rogue? You don't need to have a specialization point, you just need to hover over the icon on the specialization screen and it should show if its locked or not.

Both times I've played through (PC version) the camp vendor only sells the Templar book. The first time I played through I bought the Ranger book in the Dalish camp. I haven't found it the Ranger book the second time through. I've had little luck finding reliable info about this on the net.

Once you buy a specialization book and unlock the specialization you won't ever see that book for sale again. That's because the specialization books are only offered if the specialization is locked, and buying a book unlocks the specialization for all future playthroughs.
