I have found the talents that stun or knock down the bad guys help alot. I really like shield bash because it recharges so darn fast.
Seriously, what am I doing wrong?

I have learned to not depend on the AI (I have Tactics disabled)and use the pause as it was intended and choose each attack myself, I find the AI tactics a bit tedious and with only 3 slots available to my party members and 5 for me (at my current lvl.) it's hard to allow for all variables that take place during a battle. And I like having total control over my party. I don't mind dying if I'm completely involved in the battle and figuring out what is and is not working, each time I make progress and finally I get the winning strategy.

Just wondering, the people having problems have applied the patch (or use Steam with its auto-patching)?
"Slightly increased attack, defense, and damage scores for all party members at Normal difficulty "
Oh and something I just discovered, bombs rock! Powerful AoE damage from your Rogue, what's not to like?

Perhaps this tactic i use is overpowered and it should be nerfed a bit. I had to fight 20 guards at once and this is what i used: Leliana with Captivating Song and Wynne with Cleansing Aura and Vessel of the Spirit activated close to Leliana. Leliana was stunning most mobs around her and Wynne was healing all the party with these 2 auras every few secs. My main and the 4th char were doing whatever they wanted since most mobs were incapacitated. Sounds like a cheat but with this tactic i could take on any number or melee mobs. Ranged mobs or mages aren't much of a problem since my main has insane dps being dual-wield warrior and a champion/berserker. Mages die so fast with only my main on them, even bosses. Bioware did many fights overbalanced and i have to use the above tactic or else i die in secs. Perhaps there are other good tactics too but since this goes so well for me i won't try to find them. You should try it too. One more thing ive noticed: your tank, whichever char that is has to have a very good armor on him or else he dies fast even with a dedicated healer on him. Until i had Juggernaught Armor any tank i had was taking a beating even in battles with yellow npcs. So put your best gear on the tank in order to make your life easier. Hope this helps

You can also use tactics and set everyone to drink a health pot when they get below say 25% health. Put it right up top. Just buy a bunch of flasks and use herbalism. Just a thought.
Problem is you can not find/buy enough raw materials to keep a decent stock of healing supplies since every battle (on normal difficulty) 2-5 per battle get used up. And yes morg is programmed to cast heal on anyone lower then 25% HP. They need to give merchants more raw materials then a handful of elfroot for example.
