So, I just hit the camp for the first time and was "offered" to buy DLC by a quest NPC. I just can't believe the sheer greed that motivated this design. Is this EA's doing or Bioware's? Did I not just pay $54 for this game? Did console players not pay $64? This is just ridiculous! There is no reason whatsoever that WK shouldn't have been included in the retail game, none. At least you could have left it out of the game entirely to make it APPEAR that it was created afterwards, but no it's right there given as a quest with a dialogue option of "Download New Content"!

This is EXACTLY the same as buying a book and having to pay extra money to read a chapter just "because". It's insulting to me what has become of the video game industry.

What's even better, I pre-ordered the collector's edition off Amazon, and I the damned Blood Dragon Armor won't even show up anywhere in-game!!!

So now I always have to look at this merchant in my party camp trying to sell me another quest (Warden's Keep), when the pre-order stuff doesn't even work right! (and while the Shale quest is fine, it's like a 20 min quest!)

I like the game and all, but that's just b.s.!

This thread is for you. Blood Armor is one of the things that is working as intended.

I've just completed both DLCs, and I'm a bit annoyed too.

Some DLC for other games works great. The two GTA IV episodes - The Lost and Damned, and the Ballad of Gay Tony - offer hours of additional content and don't feel like they should have been included in the original. In contrast, these do. You can complete each DLC in under an hour, and all you'll get is a few new items, or a character in the case of The Stone Prisoner.

Bioware should only do DLC if they are full-length expansions of 10 hours and more.

No, the quest to get Shale is 20 minutes long.  Everything else that happens now that you have Shale... well... there's more to come!

If DLC is the way to go for EA/Bioware it's ok for me.

But advertising it INGAME is a big immersion breaker and disappoints me.

That's what bothered me, hannibal. I knew about WK but I didn't expect Bioware to advertise it in the game itself. If it's extra content, so be it...but to have buying the DLC as a quest in the game crosses the line.

Yeah, that was a major bummer. I blame EA. Completely. For some reason they're trying to turn this into some kind of Singleplayer MMO.

Shale might be, but I'll be damned if Warden's keep is longer than 30 minutes. It's basically a building with 3 stories and about 10 fights in total.

Just a reminder, if you bought a few years ago games like burnouts and the like, EA were assailing us with surveys about ingame advertising. Unfortunately they seem to think that the same kind of ingame advertising can apply to both Burnout's and Dragon Age's respective genre....

Remember remember also the three surveys filled during Journeys....$$$$

I enjoyed warden's keep, but I felt ripped off for the amount of content I received for $7. If I am getting 1 hour of gameplay for $7 I definately won't be buying any more.

I can't wait until we get Codex entries of an "ancient, forgotten technology" called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

It would also initiate a party banter where Morrigan and Leliana debate about whether the AC-130 gunship is the Avatar of the Maker or not.

you get the storage that game reviewers where asking for while we had to wait for ps3/xbox crap. Remember that the pc version was ready last summer and WC was finished up after the final pc game went to QA. If everything goes as planned you will see more DLC like that in the future. Otherwise game companies will give up making rpg games for the PC. Just no money in it anymore with all the console action gamers driving the market.

I personaly didnt find the advertisements to be that bad, shure he was at your camp, but honestly how much time do you really spend at your camp? and you can ignore the guy after all. Plus i found the wardens keep to be a nice add-on it was a great story in a great atmosphear.

With all the sub 20 hour games out there for $50+ I find myself having a hard time complaining about paying for a little extra content in an equally priced game that can easily give 40 hours of gameplay in the main quest and as much as 100 plus if you put the time into it.

I'd be fine with it if he didn't have the goddamn exclamation mark over his head 24/7. Before you talk to him fine, but it should disappear after that. Kind of messes up the mood.

That's funny until you realize Activision's a direct competitor to EA.

I think the main problem is we wanted good DLC. They had what 6-8 months or so delay? I can't believe they couldn't of made Warden's keep more than 30 minutes of gameplay. I Thought there was an entire team dedicated to making DLC, what the heck were they doing?

Exactly... unlocking Shale adds so much more value to the overall game via it's story that people need to stop complaining and just play the game.  Stop crying and beat the game.. then you can complain if you want..

A large amount of clothing, armor, weapon styles need to be included in a DLC for me to consider it. Plus multiple new locations, I will never get DLC for a singe quest or a small village, or a single character.

Although I can't say I like the idea of 1 hour gameplay for $7, you could take it this way:

They didn't want to raise the price of the "base" game. But honestly, how long are most games nowadays? Some less than 10 hours. You get 80-100 hours of gameplay for $50. Or pay $60, and get, say, "82-102" and you still get a much better deal than most games, which are $50 for 10 hours. It's like supporting your favorite devs so we get more games like this.

I don't care so much about trying to make more money off gamers, but it sucks to have the game basically throw out an advetsiement for it. Amatuer IMO.
