Who's idea was Warden's Keep?

It is just an add-on, you don't have to buy it. If you don't think the size of this game is worth $50 - $60, you're crazy.

You know I bought a TV and cable service and I am pissed off that I keep getting offered products to buy and luckily its not making me whip out my credit card because that would be messed up.

I enjoyed warden's keep, but I felt ripped off for the amount of content I received for $7. If I am getting 1 hour of gameplay for $7 I definately won't be buying any more.
I second that

But also, pissing and moaning about it doesn't remove the fact that it does exist. You're getting all fired up about something, and you can't use the 'fire' you're creating... just rocking in a rocking chair with a ferocious attitude.

It's not like having some chapters from a book missing. It's more like, the epilogue is gone, or some prequel that's not related to the story. Like The Hobbit from the LOTR series.

What's even better, I pre-ordered the collector's edition off Amazon, and I the damned Blood Dragon Armor won't even show up anywhere in-game!!!
(and while the Shale quest is fine, it's like a 20 min quest!)
It's right there dude. I had it in my inventory (the plate), and the other stuff could be bought from the store in camp.
What, you'd think you'd get some epic armor for free? And if you did, wouldn't it just suck to have it sit there and stare at you in your inventory, taking up space? No, this is a (rather cheap) bonus item, that people who didn't preorder the game, won't be able to buy. In addition, you can use this in Mass Effect 2 as well.
And if not, well, no one forced you to preorder it. And you didn't even pay extra for it, you just preordered. So it's free!
And what do you mean by the 20 min quest? Is that either A.) It's too long for a party member, or B.) It's too short for an expansion.
If B, well, it's not really an expansion, they cut him out before the game went gold, but found the time to add him in anyway, and just tossed him in with _every_ release. This also works as some sort of anti-piracy.
Christ, people just whine too much.
It's an epic game. I like it, I think it's good. Yeah, I'd love to have the Wardens Quest for free, but then again, it's only 560 points on XBL. There's some minor bugs here and there, but the game is amazing. I won't blame Bioware for trying to milk this. On many of the gaming websites I've visited for the last month or two, there's been HUGE Dragon Age advertisements all over. There was the 24-hour gaming event, and a lot of other stuff. They're trying to brand this, and I expect there will be many expansions in the future. Wardens Quest probably just served as a test, to see how adding new quests would work, and how it would be received.

But Warden's Keep isn't worth my money. There's something seriously wrong with anyone who would go through the trouble of building a keep area for the players and then not throw in a battle there at some point, but permanently locking the players out of the keep once they conquered it? That doesn't even qualify as half-assed.

On the first issue, well, while I'm not really fond of DLC/micro-payment marketing, I can live with it. Though I do hope the stuff gets released in a retail-package somewhere down the line, as I don't like online-payment.
The 2nd issue however, is something I don't want to see come to full fruition. People saying "hey it's just one guy, ignore him if you don't like it" have to think of the big picture. Bioware has announced that there'll be a lot of future DLC in the 2 years to come. Let's think about this and assume for arguments sake this means ~15 additional DLC packages.
So, how about 15 additional random NPCs all over Ferelden who'll throw a 5+minute sales pitch at you, at the end of which you'll get the dialog option [purchase DLC now to continue]? Does that still sound great? Or how about additional locations on the map? A DLC could get it's separate map location marker on the main map, like Shael, instead of an NPC in your base camp. As a result we could fill up the main map with let's say 10 additional fun location markers, all of which have a "well integrated sales presentation" when you visit them and the other DLCs will provide 4-5 new base camp members, all waiting with nicely visible quest markers to make you aware of possible financially supplemented fun-extensions. Of course you might say that those NPCs could also be placed in preexisting locations instead of the base-camp, so they don't intrude upon your base camp companion counseling sessions, but that wouldn't guarantee maximum product visibility, now would it?
Sorry, but that's not something I look forward to. EA/Bioware already has a perfectly viable in game presentation platform for available DLC content in case I'm interested, and that's the DLC-tab in the main game menu. If I haven't chosen to purchase the extra content at that stage, then I most definitely do not want to be reminded about the existence of those while I play the actual game. The integration of a DLC-sales-NPC isn't "clever", but rather "obnoxious" IMHO.

This is a totally positive, non threatening way to combat piracy. Would you rather have an annoying DRM program or have the game limit your installs like other games? This simply encourages people to pay for a game they like playing.
You arent seeing immersion jarring coke or KFC billboards or popups in game or anything.
Stop whining. This is the direction the whole industry should go. Kudos Bioware.

Really? Come on. The DLC being "advertised" ingame is a powerful way to combat piracy, and its genious. (it works if my friends are an example).
Gotta disagree here. How exactly did you come to the conclusion that in-game advertisments combat piracy? In the case of Dragon Age, the online content distribution and authentification platform is what is responsible for "combating piracy", not the presence of sales NPCs. Dragon Age would be just as secure if I didn't have "Stan the DLC-merchant" in my camp.

This game is far more in depth & larger than almost any other title out there. They gave us Blood Dragon Armor & Stone Prisoner for free since it was finished early. It is only $7, If you don't want to buy then don't but do not come on here & cry about it like a little kid.

You're missing the point. People don't want to buy it but they don't want it shoved in their faces and permanetly stained in their journal. Everytime I go to the party camp I'm reminded of the greedy advertising bot they've placed there. We payed full price for the game, we shouldn't have to suffer through Website links during conversation.
It's almost as if Bioware did it JUST so they could frustate people in to buying the DLC. I'm getting the first mod which removes all DLC sellers from the game.

It's hardly being shoved in your face nor must you "suffer through" anything. Please cease the overdramatic whining. If you don't like the DLC, don't buy it. If you don't like the NPC, don't speak with it and/or just ignore it. That simple. Neither choice requires running to the forums crying because "Omg Bioware are so greedy!!!! How dare they put a single NPC in the game with an option to purchase a DLC!!!!!! It ruins my immersion, the game sucks now!!!!!!!1!!1!1!!!elven"
Stop crying over little minor things and just enjoy the game.

Just because you are a kid with no responsibities and $7 means nothing to you is no reason to waste it on this garbage anyway. EA makes things like this just to exploit you, Look at all the garbage they sell on Xbox live...they SELL cheat codes for games for crying out loud!

I agree somewhat, they should have left the NPC out.
That said, I really enjoyed playing Warden's Keep and think it is worth the money. It adds a couple hours to the game and gives you some pretty awesome loot. There's also a few decisions associated with it rewarding multiple playthroughs much like the rest of the game.
