Asari are giant biological BS. They were just created as male fanservice (race of hot blue aliens chicks) and I doubt devs have any idea how reproduction works. Magically changing genome to include traits from psychic connection sounds like a really bad idea from fantasy universe. No point in scientific debate over this.
Well I don't dispute the male fanservice part. I got the impression that the devs had some people with scientific backgrounds on the teams thinking about things like propulsion or genetics or suchlike?
Anyway, I was just amused that it was possible from my own personal background (I'm a biologist) to work foward based on assumpution and speculation and the make predictions concerning the specifics of ME xenobiology, something I have been unable to do for other games (such as the mind bendingly opaque bioshock.).

You can speculate, but there are things that are just well, very improbable ( whole mind-meld idea, at lest from what I know as a psychobiologist). Mass Effect is filled with biological absurdities, but it is not a problem for me, since I know it's a game not futurological manifest. I just enjoy it and don't try to go very deeply into the scientific background. It is a too much of a Buzz Killington for most of modern s-f productions. If I want some harder futurology I go for Lem or Asimov, not ME.
