I thought she was super helpful. I wouldn't dumb it down to a male female preference, cuz even if she was a gay dude named Kenny and would hit on Shepard at every chance (I'd hate that though) I'd still find the message reminders and info useful. At least on the first playthrough. She actually tells you when a character wants to talk to you and lets you know when to check your messages. If you don't want to hear it then check your damn messages (I actually read all of mine).

And she tells me I have messages when I don't.

She keeps pulling this one on me too. I keep expecting she's going to laugh at me when I check.

That ****!
She's been playing tricks on us this whole time!

I thought Kelly was lovely. Her personality is uplifting considering the mission's grim nature.

On the other hand, if I had to bump into Jack every 5 minutes, I'd probably throw her out an airlock. Good thing for her shes in the pit.

I read your OP with a big smile on my face because everything you've written mirrors my thoughts exactly. As a renegade FemShep with no interest in being best buddies with someone as annoingly cheerful and naive as Kelly the option to slap her would have been most satisfying.

It was sad to see the Normandy so terribly empty after the rescued crew failed to make it back to the Normandy during the suicide mission. Kelly was about the ONE person I didn't miss. I cried for dr. chakwas though, and the chef. :(

*facepalm* I really do worry about humanity when self centred shallow jerks make such pathetic posts about computer game characters.

All the crap going on in the world and this is what you rant about?

Kelly (not really a "romance" at all), was, by far, my favorite romance in ME2. None of the others were even close.

Of course, a big part of it is that I'm a straight male player who much prefers playing a Femshep... and is creeped out by doing the male LI's. Considering that most of the ME fans that I know have a similar playstyle, Kelly was a pretty smart bone for Bioware to toss into the game.

I do sympathize with anyone who doesn't like her though... her proximity to the Galaxy map makes her pretty hard to ignore.

Personally, gender issues aside, I liked what she represented. She was an educated, sexually-open, free spirit in the game who was willing to fool around with no strings attached. A "proffesional" LI, if you will. As far as psychologists not sitting around talking about who they'd like to sleep with (with their friends), I can only say that you know a different bunch of psychologists than I do. As a profession, they are, in my experience, second only to teachers in how sexually adventurous and gossipy they are.

Well, she's a psychologist, and she tells you when a squad member has a loyalty mission.

And yeah, she looks *great* in lingerie.

I'm going to have to disagree.

Kelly was the most likable character in my opinion. I was able to relate to her the most. Free-spirited, understanding, loving. I wish there was an option to pursue her as a LI. I would've dumped Liara for her instantly.

@The Governator:

I agree.

@the OP:

well bioware stated multiple times that it doesn't matter if people love or hate a character, as long as he/she brings out some sort of emotion.

I also dislike Kelly. She doesn't really seem to have a purpose. (At least for my Shepard; I will have already checked my messages by the time she gets around to telling me about them.)

I don't really mind her but she is rather unprofessional and pointless. I can only assume it's her willingness to sleep with anything with a pulse that got her the job in the firstplace.

I can understand your annoyance. She's there to make things easier on the player so they don't have to constantly run around the ship to learn when someone is ready to talk to them or when they have new mail, but her role could have easily been taken over by EDI when you think about it.

I don't like Kelly either, I don't hate her, but don't like her either.

She has the most useless job in the entire world, why couldn't they just have EDI do the 'You have a message commander' or "Grunt seems uneasy"?

Oh well, its not really a major criticism just a small thing. I don't like people that are like "I love everything and everybody", because typically they're not very smart.

So let me start this with the disclaimer with the fact that I am, female, straight, and I'm playing a femShep.

Now, I loved the game, loved the squad characters and their stories, and by far the most fun I've had gaming in the last six months, but after completing the game, I have one truly heartfelt plea for ME3:

*Please give us an option to fire Kelly Chambers.* Or at least give femSheps the renegade option to punch her in the face. I don't want her dead. I just want her on the other end of the Galaxy from wherever I am at any given time. I'm even cool with a hefty severance package. She can have all of the Platinum I didn't use on upgrades.

In my opinion, she wins the coveted award for most irritating video game character *ever*. I'm including all 151 original Pokemon and Jar Jar Binks in this summary. If I hear her say, "Commander, you have unread messages" one more time, I'm pulling a Nichelle Nichols and freaking the hell out. Kellygrrl is what happens when the irritating cheerleader from High School gets divorced, at 22, by the captain of the football team, and realizes she has to get a Bachelors in Arts and a public relations job - then graduates at the bottom of her class and can only keep jobs by continually trying to sleep with her bosses.  <_<

What does Chambers *do* other than feed my fish, report my actions to the Illusive Man, and tell me I have e-mail? She doesn't bring me a nice cup of tea and the morning paper. I could deal with a nice cup of earl grey and what's new on the extranet. She shows no particular professional psychological insight. She giggles about the characters she wants to sleep with. Friends, good ladies and gentlemen - I ask you - is that how a psychologist acts? =]

Of course, there are *ahem* less tactful ways to get rid of her, but this requires getting rid of several other characters who are amicable, useful, and who I have no malicious intent towards. It was a tough call. I really enjoyed the cutscene where she melts into goo.

I also realize that others find Miranda Lawson equally annoying. However, Miranda has three redeeming characteristics:

1)She actually has a personality, and her loyalty quest shows she has something resembling a soul. An egocentric soul, but a soul, nonetheless.
2) Her dialogue shows an sufficient level of intelligence, and she is useful in combat.
3) She stays. The hell. In her office.

I realize that most males are not having this problem. I hear she looks great in lingerie :(. But I implore you, dear Developers, to give me the option of a moment of peace on my bridge. Or a good cup of tea.

Am I the only one she grated  on? Males? Females? Perhaps I am insane.

This is hilarious.  I thought girls only got jealous of other "real" girls and that's why they could never identify with a video game like most men can, but this proves me way wrong.  How jealous are you really of a video game vixen?  Seriously tell us how you really feel...

How do you "Cool Story Bro" a chick?  Um... Sweet tale sister...  0o0o it's even a sexist inuendo at the same time.  I likes it.   Размещенное изображение

Why can't I have EDI as my E-Yeoman? Not that I dislike Kelly... she just seems a useless addition.

It's adorable how female gamers are OMG JEALOUS LOL when they express dislike for a character who happens to be female. Even if Kelly were a male character, I'd find them completely annoying and obsolete.

What convinced me was the mock backstory provided to help prove how annoying Kelly really was with a pretend backstory.  It is like a shining becon to the underlying jealousy that fueled the rant post.

Up until this point I was convinced this wasn't at all possible.  But now I have to rethink things Размещенное изображение
