the rig i am running is
ASUS PK5 Premium
Intel Q6600 @ 3.0 GHz
GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB
OCZ Reaper 4GB DDR2
I'm running at a resolution of 1600x1050
the OS i am running is Win7 64bit
I am constantly getting crash's to desktop with no error report and i cant find a solution
I would reinstall the game but i dont want to loose my save game data
I have all the current official DLCs installed
Some times textures dont render properly. earlier Alistair's flame effect on his sword was VERY pixelated
And then after that no armour was loading at all... looked funny but not desired
Any known soltions?

You can reinstall the game and not lose your saved game data.
Go to your documents folder and back up your saves.
I was getting game crashes with my 9800 Nvidia...got a new card...250GTS nvidia...I think my 9800 was overheating...that could be your issue...maybe...perhaps.

My PSU is 550W.. more than enough. if it was being overstratched the whole system would lock up.
Where are the save files kept then? or are they blatently obveose.. i'll have a look.
i'm getting an upgrade soon, when Nvidia release there new range of cards i'll by an ATI card on the cheap

One of the deep dark secrets of PC Gaming is that your PSU needs to supply no less than 18 Amps to your 12V Rails if they're to give adequate power to your Graphics Card. Check your PSU Specs & examine your 12V Rails Amperage. If they're less than 18 Amps, get a better PSU. Give this one a consider: OCZ Fatal1ty OCZ550FTY 550W ATX12V/EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Active PFC Power Supplyhimaro101 wrote...

Perhaps even more "secret" is the fact that the vast majority of power supply brands are inadequate for our use. There are about a dozen quality brands, only, plus some from whom you can get either good or non-so-good, depending on the source. Supposedly, Antec is not an actual producer, just a rebrander. As long as Channel Well was their only supplier, Antec was a top name (Channel Well sells very little product under its own name).
A few years ago, they began buying from other suppliers, and having to do a lot of warranty work on the non- Channel Well parts. That situation hurt their reputation.
Here are the five "good ones" that come easily to my mind: Enermax, Fortron, OCZ, PC Power and Cooling, and Sparkle.

I see plenty of PSU problems on these Forums. I wonder if a PSU FAQ or such is in order?

Since I don't consider myself terribly expert on the subject, why not send a PM to Flem1 to see if he's in the mood to author such a post / FAQ?Tyrax Lightning wrote...

I haven't seen him post anything in here in weeks, though . .

Objective met. We'll see what happens from it, or not. There was one oddity though, I typed 'Flem1' into the message 'To:' field & it corrected to 'flem1'. Are they the same person?Gorath Alpha wrote...
