My first 20 hours in Dragon Age has been the best since world of warcraft and halfLife 2. If this were a multiplayer game it could be at the top of the list of MMO.

Good job BioWare on a well made and very fun game to play.

While another customizable multi-player experience from Bioware would be great, it just wouldn't fit with this game..

A co-op mode would be Friggin awesome!!! I don't even understand contrary opinions! If you could sit down with a friend and run a mage while he or she runs a fighter and play through the game, it would be ballin. XBOX, PS3, or computer. It's all good. Squash that negativity and join us, because we are right!

Never been able to immerse myself in a multiplayer game

I don't wanna have to run around the Korcari Wilds with a 8 year old gamer calling me n00b Lucker

With the toolset being available I think it would be interesting to see if multi player on-line persistent “Dragon Age” worlds would work out. I don’t know what all is involved with something like that, but it did seem to work for NWN.

Don't play with your friends at school then.

There's a difference between MMO and Multiplayer/Co-op.  That first M stands for massively.  Could they just add the multiplayer without ruining everyone's fun?

Multiplayer as feature takes up developing resources. Would you really want to have multiplayer and a pinch LESS depth? Or no multiplayer and the game as it is now?

"Multiplayer" and "depth" seem to be at odds with each other. But maybe that's just me.

With dungeons that enemies re spawn in, with random loot chests at the end, 4 co-op multiplayer could probably work very well.

But yeah, i don't think it is essential, i absolutely adore this as a single player game.

Try DDO. It is FREE and has a vast amount of things that can be done currently.

Multiplayer wouldn't work for DA:O. I think Dragon Age could be a heck of an MMO though.

Id say no multiplayer.

Im about 14 hours in to the game, and as the OP said it's the most fun i've had since WoW.

It has everything, "instances" and such..Yet at my own leisure, if I feel like making dinner I just hit Pause, or go out, or whatever.

Love the multitasking and keeping control of my team alone :D

well they are making the old republic which even though it is not DA:O it still has the same overall qualities that make DAO stand out among other RPGs based on the same time frame.

DA:O is plenty deep enough for me.

As for multiplayer. I'd definitely vote no to that. In my opinion, "depth" and "MMO" are mutually exclusive.

If the multiplayer development didn't take away from the single player development i would be ok with it. Sadly it always does so i'd rather it just stays singleplayer only.

It's not a contrary opinion; if Bioware had wanted to put co-op play in the game, it would have it. They decided that the multi-player wasn't worth the cost in development time.

The only way I could really see it making sense from a plot standpoint would be to have it as a totally outside-the-plot add-on... for example, an "arena" area where you could take your existing character, pop into the arena "world", beat up or be beaten up by another player, and then exit back to the 'real' game afterward - with no consequence to your character other than bragging rights (maybe it updates your online profile {NegaDuck pwned LordWimpenstein 1/26/10 16:16}...

/facepalm.

Do people not put any thought whatsoever into what it would take to make DA multiplayer? Because I think if they did, we wouldn't see so many of these threads.

It's just a lot easier to tell a story effectively if you don't have to consider the fact that millions (ok, even hundreds) could be sharing the same game space the way they do in MMOs. I think Guild Wars successfully does this by using quest-specific party instances, but this is why some people don't consider it a true MMO (there is no persistent world).

I'd like to see an MMO set in the Dragon Age world. I think that would be awesome.

Obviously not. You would think that they are armchair developers or something... :?

Well NWN had multiplayer. So hey, it could happen!
