I agree with the majority. Dragon Age provides a potentially good platform for a MMO, a stereotypical world divided in good (the humanoids) and evil (the darkspawn, undead, as well as malicious humanoids, etc). Obviously, if such a game would be released, it should be entirely separate from the original story and single player campaign. There would be no main character or hero, but hundreds instead.

Dragon Age: Origins would be nice to play with friends though. A multiplayer capacity of maximum 4 players, the same amount a party allows, could be quite fun, I think.

Err... what majority? From the threads I've read on this forum so far, 80% are against DA:MMO. Co-op seems to be the preferred choice, but definitely not MMO.

Either I'm not getting the point across, which is very likely, or many people have a knack for misinterpretation, which is equally plausible. Nowhere in that post do I mention that I would prefer a MMO, only pointing out the game's potential to be transformed into one. What I wouldn't mind to see is the possibility to play with 1-3 friends. That's the majority I was referring to after my hasty read-through.

Multiplayer does not equal MMO..
a simple co-op/mini versus mode would be amazing.. kinda like in Demon's Souls..

They did Co-op in BG and it simply was not popular at all.  They have not done it since for that reason.  It may be time to try that experiment again with todays better connections and technology.

Erm...that's not exactly true. Co-op BG was quite popular until NWN came out. And of course, NWN1 still is popular as a MP game both for co-op and PWs (which are not MMOs, but larger scale than co-op still).

That said, I agree that co-op MP would be fun, a DM-client would be amazing. And I do hope DA2 has that aspect in-game. But the "majority" on these threads gags at the idea of a DA MMO and think it would ruin everything about the world and game.

And I don't even agree that the game is 'prepared to be an MMO.' Look at all the "overpowered mage" threads. Most of those are based on the presumption that DA should have MMO-style balance. I would propose that the reason DA doesn't have MMO-style class balance is because it's NOT prepared for that at all. But rather it's prepared to be what it is, a single-player RPG w/ squad-based tactical combat that can convert to a table-top PnP RPG.
