Well according to the new update on the dragonage mainpage the lich guy is the architect just go to the website and click the link they must have a good reason for why he changed but the game is many years after the book so it seems so it is logical for him to have found a way to change his appearance and maybe even become more powerful

maybe the OP pic is the concept art of the architect while the bad ass talking hurlock is the in-game design?... i mean come on...take a look at the concept arts in dragon age wiki... no one is the same as their in-game counterparts...

right about that. the concepts are all too different from the characters (not having cloaks does not help).

Pay attention to his altered head, there are gold and black colors, maybe that refers to the golden city which turned into the black city? Maybe he was one of the mages entering the golden city and now he carries a beautiful part of the golden city and the corrupted part of the black city like a stigma on his head and face?

The golden parts on his body look so perfect and beautiful whereas the black parts seem to display asymmetric corruption.

Wouldn't it be the other way around? Or is he a pile of clothes possessed by fade spirits who wear skin?

I'll admit I'm starting to find him a somewhat attractive, but that's only because the lack of romances in Awakening is making my character somewhat desperate. He'll take whatever love he can find.

Yes, I find him to be rather hawt. A shame no romances in the game. Be nice even to get a little Teagan style flirtation.
