I'm doing a vanguard playthrough and i start at level 5 because of importing a lvl 60 character, what i want to know is should i go for heavy charge first or should i go for champion? My real question being (as i want the Paragon/renegade bonus) how the bonus works, will it only affect paragon and renegade points you gained when you have the ability on or do you automatically get another 25% bonus to paragon/renegade when you turn it on and if so does that bonus go away if you change to say destroyer? Thanks.

Go for heavy charge first. Until you get heavy charge, you pretty much won't be playing a vanguard. Starting at level 5 ensures you'll have champion, and the bonus paragon/renegade points that come with it LONG before you actually need it.
