Hey there.

Recently, I got the retail Collector's edition of Mass Effect 2 on the pc and both my Collectors Armor and the rifle, as well as my Cerberus Network code aren't working. Attempting to register Cerberus in-game leads me to a message that reads "Connection to the Mass Effect 2 server has been interrupted or timed out". Entering my code on the Bioware Social Site then just tells me "Unable to redeem code. Code not recognized, please check that you have entered it correctly."  I also get the same problem when trying to register my Collectors Armor and Assault Rifle, although, I was able to register my Terminus armor with no issues.

I've heard this is a common problem with retail Collector's editions of the game with Cerberus Network not working. Although, I haven't heard that the Collector's equipment wasn't a problem before...

Any ideas that would help? Has Bioware commented on this yet and are working on a fix yet?

Thanks in advance.

I am having trouble getting the collector's armor and rifle too (same as it is for you, "unable to redeem code, bla bla bla"), although the Cerberus Network works fine for me. I don't know if it changes anything, but I bought the game digitally.

Within ea.support.com is a comment about the Cerberus network problem and that they're working on a fix, but I haven't been able to find any comments about the Collector armor & rifle. I too cannot get either code to work, have tried multiple times, rebooted my machine, temporarily opened up the firewall and security settings, etc., etc. Getting the same error messages.

Tried EA support as is suggested in the stickied thread to no avail, chat canceled and any attempt to get to the "Email me back" page encounters a 404.

Way to go EA, since I have to pirate your games AFTER I buy them, I'm going to skip the actually paying you part next time.

I'd just like to add my name to the list of people who bought the collector's edition and can activate neither Cerberus Network, nor the Collector armor and assault rifle....

Anyone know how long EA has been working on this problem?  If I understand correctly from their support page, it sounds like they're working on a fix so that anyone who has simply installed the Collector's edition using the code provided will be granted automatic access to the Cerberus Network.  Not sure about the Collector armor and assault rifle issue though....

Damn thing seems like we're all in the same boat here. Anyone know of some "other" fixes or temp solutions to accessing the Collector's edition download?

I have the collector's edition also (purchased at GameStop) and I have all DLC installed and I am connected to the Cerberus Network when playing, but I can' t find the download for the Cerberus Assault Armor and Eviscerator Shotgun.

Update: I just contacted EA via chat and I had a very good experience. I had to wait 30 minutes for a techy, but he solved all of my problems: he automatically activated Cerberus network for me and then gave me a new code for the Collector's armor and assault rifle.

Give chat a try. I was pleasantly surprised!

Same fiasco! Most of the DLC installed no problem, and yet i cannot register my Collector's Edition Cerberus code here. Bioware i love and support you, but please fix the issues that people paid hard-earned money for... =(

I've tried chat 3 times now... well over an hour of total waiting. Chat canceled all 3 times... I gave up and just pirated the whole bloody game + dlc packs... surprise surprise, everything works. I currently have 2 copies of ME2 installed, 1 legit and 1 pirated... maybe I'll eventually be able to access the page to email them or perhaps I'll try the chat wait, yet again. Overall, this was the new Biowares last chance after DAO problems.

My favorite dev company of all time has disappeared. Even the somewhat bad DRM on SW Kotor 2 that caused a fair few stability issues wasn't nearly as bad as the crap EA has you guys shoveling out your door...

EA amongst other game producing companies need to learn the lesson of the locksmith: Locks only keep honest people honest. The dishonest ones you're targeting will always find a way around the lock to begin with. All you really have to do is toss some minor DRM in their way(cd key check @ install is plenty) and it will keep them honest. Instead you're throwing DRM thats so draconian about that you're turning honest people dishonest because its not worth the headache. Theres no reason DLC has to be any more than a key check @ beginning of installer too... and no, not an online authentication check either.

As much disdain as I have for draconian DRM, I would never go out of my way to pirate the product. I am just as upset as you for purchasing a product that does not function as intended; however, I feel pirating just makes things worse for everyone. I can have a little patience to the perks of the collectors edition. There was an official statement somewhere here that EA / Bioware are aware of the problem and working on a solution.

If mention of this being worked on dissapears without the product being activated as intended, however, our best recourse is simply to boycott the company and never purchase another one of their products, including the upcoming Dragon Age products... which is very sad. However, I refuse to give money to a company when they already burnt me on one purchase!!!!!

Where is the automatic activation "fix"  they spoke of???? I feel quite ripped off :(

My main problem here is, I already *paid* for the content. People get on here and say "oh some people have such a crazy sense of entitlement these days", well you're damn right, I paid for something, I expect to get what I paid for or a full refund and an apology. I'm not asking for anything insane. I'm just asking that they lighten the DRM to the point where the game and all the bits and pieces that go with it actually *work*. Its like a good friend of mine who happens to be a locksmith always says... a lock only keeps honest people honest, if the person really wants whatever is behind the lock for free, they'll get it.

I work as a manager as well as an IT consultant, if someone has too much trouble getting a program to work *even if that program can help them make money or make their lives a lot easier, or both* if they have trouble getting the thing to work in the first place, they won't use it. Hell, an EA game is a low man on the totem pole as far as earnings are concerned for software, yet the DRM employed is more insane than anything I've ever seen employed by companies that sell business software specifically. Companies who have one.single.product to protect that is their entire life blood and you know what? They have the fscking sense to realize that if they make their products too hard to start using, they won't have customers for very long. If there was an alternative production studio with similar quality to bioware that I could use that wasn't pwned by one of the current major publishers along with their DRM regimes, I'd buy their product and largely ignore Bioware.

I don't mind a bit of DRM but it can easily be limited to a well encrypted key check and still have exactly the same effect as the elaborate and useless current drm products. Its still only going to keep honest people honest, the dishonest people will get around whatever you put on there period.

Lets not even get into the fact that some of this DRM is worse for your PC than 99% of the viruses out there.

Same here... waited a couple weeks after release to buy the damn game, just so these kinds of bugs would be fixed. Guess I shoulda done a bit more homework..

I'll try the chat thing tomorrow... Seems like a rip-off to buy the more expensive version of the game, and not having it working.

I bought the Collectors edition for PC the day it came out but only installed it last night after beating Mass effect 1.

I finally got the terminus preorder DLC to work, but I cant get my Cerberus code to work, I cant get the collector armor or rifle to work and i cant sign into cerberus in the game. How can I contact support other than through email? I dont want to play the game until i get this sorted out.

Victor: I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. This is a new issue we just got it few hours back. So we are not aware of it. We have send the issue to the developers to find out what is going on. I would advise you to please wait for some time and then try again to login and play the game online. If the issue persists, you can contact us again. We will be happy to assist you.

This is the response i got from the so called support
