Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2 are both rated 17+ in the states; anyway, I don't see gay romances pushing up the rating.

Lack of supporting evidence... well how about another BW produced EA backed game with plenty of homosexual relationships in it. I think it is called DAO...
Your arguement seems to be "OMG EA DID IT!!!" but if thats the truth and EA is scared of having homosexual relationships in their games then explain DAO, or does it just not count?

Dragon Age is rated 18, ME2 is rated 15.

Different target audiences; greater market penetration (hurhur) with lower age rating. Possible contributory factor.

DA also -has- to be rated 18 because they have an official modding tool.  Just like Oblivion I think got retroactively made rated M once they realized that there would be no stopping people from being able to make certain inappropriate for minors mods lol.

Where the **** are people getting the idea that she is stereotypical? I don't see it at all and I'm not being biased. I'm sorry but I can't recall many super powerful telekinetic chicks raised and abused in secret facilities, my bad. If anyone is stereotypical it's Miranda.

Jack says she's not into chicks if you talk to her a lot as female Shepard.

Because she doesn't like women?

Incorrect. She mentions that she's had female lovers before.

She should be a female romance option. Makes no sense for her to reject Femshep (especially considering all the other things Shepard has seduced).

Even if Bioware's afraid of Fox News and their concerned mothers now, I'd really like it if her dialog tree had less of a **** resolution if you're female. She hates me because she doesn't want to do me? Sure, whatever, Jack, you goddamn crazy. Heard you had a nice Paragon resolution, but I'm not gonna bother going for anyone but Tali on Manshep.

Huh, could have sworn I heard her tell my femshep that she didn't belong to the 'girls club'. Must have just misinterpreted it.

ACtually, I remember her telling my FemShep the same thing, and that was just after telling me about having female lovers of her own. So go figure...

I don't think she ever mentions female lovers alone, always in a group with males as well. Not for a one-on-one thing, in other words.

Exactly, but stupid people do not process logic.

Depends on how you read it. I read it as "I don't want to be buddy-'lets have a slumber party!'-bubby with you" kind of thing.

Let's discount the entire silly EA is evil thing, because I distinctly remember having hot male elf sex while drunk in DAO with my male wizard. And let's not get into all the shenanigans at The Pearl, especially if you have Oghren in your party.

There was even a NUG on one of the beds.

But I digress.

If I don't meta-game this to death, it seems like Jack isn't attracted to Shepard because, deep down, she's a bit disturbed by Shepard's uberness as a female. Jack's all bravado and quite childish at times. The dialog options go like this:

Shep: Asks personal questions

Jack: Asks why you are interested in this stuff

Shep: Admits she finds Jack fascinating

Jack: Doesn't want to be part of your girl club.

Translation: Jack is used to being the top female. She thinks Miranda is a company ****, but Shepard, on the other hand, eats psychos like Jack for lunch.

That's the subtext I got from the dialog presented without pretending to be smarter than the game designer and working with the game that was revealed to me.

Maybe she's just not attracted to the female Shepard? I can get behind that... I know I certainly don't want to hop in bed with every man/woman/insert-weird third-gender-construct-here I meet, no matter how nice they are to me. Compatable sexualities/proclivites doth not ensure the horizontal mambo (unless half a bottle of ouzo goes down first *ahem* ).

Did they think she was too stereotypical to make her a lesbian love interest? She pretty much indicates her bi-nature in dialog options. Do you think they just left her out due to deadline issues?

No, the last thing she says to a FemShep after all dialog options is "Look, I'm not really a 'girls club' kind of girl..." or something like that. I took that in more of the Urban Dictionary sense than Trishann did...

My guess is that the F/F paths were cut because the Tali, Garrus, and Thane romances were already pushing the "nonstandard sex" envelope.

It is obvious, its not in there because fox news would have had a tantrum over it.

Shepard isn't gay/lesbian. There are no gay/lesbian romances in the entire franchise. It makes sense. This has nothing to do with Fox news crying about it or anything. This was most likely a long-standing design decision since before ME 1 was made. Even if you were on a ship full of lesbians, Shepard wouldn't go for any of them. Why? because Shepard isn't a lesbian.

Er, aside from the genderless Asari, Yeoman Chambers is certainly female, and she tries to get in FemShep's pants almost immediately (much to my despair).

I actually haven't thought of Chambers. If you're a Femshep do you still get the option of fooling around with her? If not, it's a simple explination. Other people can be into whatever they want. Femshep isn't lesbian, so she wouldn't go for it. If you can...well I have no idea.

Not that I would, but apparently I could. Personally, I would prefer to punch her in the face.

People think EA is behind the lack of f/f (or m/m as well I assume) relationships? Has anyone here seen Dante's Inferno? There's a fully visible boob about every 5 minutes in that game, along with Satan's penis.

I'm sure EA would have no problem with same-sex relations.

*shrugs* I have absolutely no idea, then. The devs have always said that you play the role of Shepard. You can choose what he/she does to an extent, but in the end, you are still Commander Shepard. You wouldn't be able to chose something Shepard wouldn't do. So it makes sense why you can't romance the same sex if youre playing a straight character. I have no idea about this though. This kinda changes things.

Nope. Everyone's Shepard is straight. You play a preexisting character, and can chose what they do to an extent, but nothing major.
