Ok what the heck? This is the second time this has happened. I do the suicide mission and Mordin dies. I split people up effectively and have no problem.

Vents:Tali
Team1:Garrus
Team2:Garrus
Barrier:Morinth/Samara
Escort:Jacob

When I go to escape it always shows Mordin dead. The only time it doesn't show that for me is when I use him in the final fight. Has this happened to other people? I would like to have him survive but not have to use him in the final battle. If you have any formations or anything that can help me out here I would appreciate it.

Who was your final battle team?

Am going to guess that you had one of the toughnuts in your team.

Basically if you are putting Mordin in your 'Door Defence team' you pretty much need to be going into the final battle with 'squishy' types only ie. Jack, Tali, Miranda. Leaving your more 'tougher' party members to help defend Mordin from death.

He is numero uno on the 'most likely to die if you leave him there' list.

It should be obvious, send Mordin for the escort.

He's a scientist, not a soldier, and you have allready cleared the path back.

Switch Jacob out with a loyal Tali (or Mordin even). BW considers Jacob a soldier class and will do well in the rearguard portion of the battle. On your team for dealing with the baby reaper its best to bring non-soldier types with you (they have to be loyal though).

Some examples are: Miranda, Mordin, Samara/Morinth, Tali, and Jack

The ones that do fall under soldier and have high defense points for the rearguard include: Zaeed, Garrus (I think he might have the highest), Thane, Grunt, Legion, and Jacob.

Hope this helps!

My team why Zaeed and Garrus. I thought leaving Grunt behind would be enough.

Mordin is:
  • A Salarian.
  • A Scientist.
  • Old.
Seriously, not a good choice for leaving him in the position of fighting a front-line war. Send him back to the ship as an escort for the crew, he's never died on me when I've done that, and my other suicide options match yours in the OP.

Leave loyal Garrus and loyal Grunt and loyal Jacob on the defense team. They should keep Mordin alive.

If you really want Mordin to live and he is loyal, send him back w/ the crew.

I did a number of different complete playthroughs of the suicide mission and Sending a loyal Mordin on escort duty resulted in him living every time. Jacob never got offed in the second fire team either.

Working solution for me has been:

Vents: Legion

Fire Team 1: Miranda

Fire Team 2: Miranda

Barrier: Samara

Escort: Grunt/Zaeed

Done it twice on hardcore with no problems, but timing does appear to be an issue. I counted about 4&1/2 minutes to get past the biotic shield part before someone dies.

I took Mordin with me to face the Reaper. He survived.

So, either take him with you or have him escort people back.

Make Miranda leader every time.

Make everyone loyal.

Make Legion go in the vent.

Make Jack use the botic.

Make out party with Jack afterward.

????

Profit.

Well as Gill has pointed out, if you swap out Garrus for one of the more squishy types, then Mordin should survive. :)

I kept eveyone alive w/ Miranda and Grunt in my squad for basically the whole mission, Tali in the vents, Garrus leading the 2nd fire team the whole mission, Samara as biotic barrier, and Mordin as the escort.  Everyone was loyal in all of my passes at this mission.

Took a while to figure out how to keep Tali alive however, seemed to be related to a dialog option just after crashing into the base for me.

I've tried a lot of different combinations for the end game (all members loyal); from what I've found, these are the characters you want to use for each part:

Vents: Tali or Legion

Second Squad: Miranda, Garrus, or Jacob

Biotic: Jack or Samara

Escort: Mordin (or take him with you to face the Reaper)

As long as you choose characters from this list, everyone will survive. Altering them in any way (like, say, choosing Samara for the squad leader) will end in dead characters.

Seriously i have beaten the ending with all sorts of combinations and have yet to have someone die i think this has more to do with how long it takes to kill the reaper, even on insanity i can kill that thing in near record time.

From what I've heard, Garrus leading twice in a row makes someone die. Also, I took Grunt and Jack with me for the final battle and he survived, was I just lucky?

Assignments:

Vents:Legion

Team1:Garrus

Team2:Jacob

Barrier:Samara

Escort:Zaeed

If you really, really want Mordin to survive without a doubt, and he's loyal, just make him the escort or take him with you to fight the boss.

Garrus leading twice in a row, i know for a fact, will get him through alive. (as long as he's loyal)

I've done it 3 times already. One run on insanity as well.

Definitely false.
