"Genetically similar" is not enough. Chimpanzees genetically are the closest to humans 99% and we still can't produce any offspring with them.krylo wrote...
Biological impossibility. Different species can not produce fertile offspring, and must be very genetically similar to produce offspring at all.

That said, for creatures with higher intelligence, I would imagine that making mating pleasurable is one of the most reliable ways for evolution to ensure that sufficient offspring are produced, meaning that aliens will probably all have erogenous zones... in one place or another.

You could just play around with some DNA and grow a 'hybrid'SithLordExarKun wrote...

you could atleast clone a parent and modify its dna to incorperate some traits of the other parent so it feels more like both of thiers.

Because, this only happens at same time for same species. Pretty sure aliens can make each other feel good even with limited compatibility ... as long as they know what to handle and how.

Drell are mammals too apparently according to a developer. And being mammals is likely given how they have near identical notions of marriage and love.
What in the hell do notions about marriage and love have to do with the taxonomic definition of the word "mammal"? Dogs don't get married, does that mean they aren't mammals anymore?
Jeezus.. our education system is full of fail.

As for Tali's statement on 'linking suit environments', she meant they literally connect their suits in such a way so that they can have intercourse but not be exposed to the exterior environment. That is why when her and Shepard have intercourse she needed to take extra immuno-stims.
Not entirely true, it's more about sharing the atmosphere so you're no longer allergic to eachother. The Admiral that was friends with Tali's parents did it with her mother so that she could be in the delivery room.

How about you don't worry about it. It's not very important. Clearly, the races in Mass Effect share very humanoid traits. In reality, the similarity between so many races from different solar systems would be extremely unlikely.

Given the Reapers being, well, the "Reapers" I tend to think they seeded the galaxy with what eventually evolves into organic life anyway. Quick and easy way to explain the frequent similarities.TeaCokeProphet wrote...
Wrex/Garrus makes a reference to turian testicles in the first game. Probably Wrex. Garrus talks about the concept of four krogan balls.
I for one find homology occuring like this to be extremely unlikely. Then again, it's a video game. Suspend your disbelief.

So does that above mean that Tali might grow, uh, "accustomed" to Shepard and their "interactions" would pose less of a risk over time?

From what I understand, yes. Repeated...erm...'exposures' to each other means Tali's risk levels will reduce each time. Well, that and being only 1 floor up from Mordin, medical mastermind, and 2 floors above Chawkas

As for Hybrids of different species in space, i wouldn't say it that its that far fetched. Turians and Quarians are very similar, and one could even stretch it to say that humans are as well to these species. While I don't truly understand the implications of every species, if they are atleast similar in their basic DNA strand builds, then it could!
Though here we are debating a medical statement, while the founders of Bioware could give us real answers (considering bioware was founded by medical doctors who make video games now!). Any input Bioware guys?
edit: you insert rod "A" into slot "B"

No. Just no. Amino Acid base is NOT a basis for similarly as a species. It'd be like saying, "Humans are just the same as Armadillo" because we have the same amino-acid base.
Hybrids in general...I doubt it. But hey, its sci-fi, so anything can happen (as Star Trek repeatly showed us, every other planet in the galaxy is populated by aliens who look exactly the same as us

Imagine that awkward scene in ME 3. Tali is rushed to the med bay with Mordin and Chakwas attending. The other crew members watch anxiously. Shepard asks for them to help her and as the two doctors look closely...they ask one question..
Why is she not wearing any pants?!

You know that actaully explained that in an episode of The Next Generation?
The found a really old artifact that played a holographic recording where the member of an ancient speices that was dieing out explained that they had seeded multiple worlds with thier genetic material, which is why many of the alien species were very similar to humans.
