I think it would have been much sweeter if it was left as impossible for two different species with entirely different physiologies to have sex.

Tali/Garrus were worth romancing because of their personalities. Instead, Tali immediately begins researching ways for interspecies sex. That is not only weird, it kind of detracts from her adorableness IMO.

What if instead of being tackled into bed by a cyborg quarian who is, according to Grunt/Okeer anway, not exactly soft or fleshy, we simply shared some downtime looking out the window in each other's arms?

Once I found out that Tali might be taking off her mask did I continue with the Talimance...and then I was dissapointed on that front, leaving me feeling kind of disgusting.

Thoughts?

...........Hell No.
In fact, that was not only the most frustrating thing ever but most what the heck thing I ever read on this board.
Don't take this the wrong way, I do want to insult you, but why on earth would you want BioWare to tease you like that?

Well, many humans have found ways to have sex with other species in real life; just, uh, try to not think about that too much. Anyway, there are many ways for people to be physically intimate, and Shepard and Tali/Garrus work around that.

I was too busy mentally screaming at BioWare for not showing us Tali's face to care.

Tali and Garrus romance?! This won't make Tali romance lovers happy.

This is just how Mass Effect romances are structured. The romances end invariably in sex or at the very least suggestive of sex or intimacy.

Same, at first, but I guess I am just old-fashioned in that thinking sex isn't the culmination of a realationship.

What if Tali dies in the third one because you slept/were intimate with her? You know, dies of a cold or some such. it would be particularly evil on Bioware's part and would hit the Tali fanatics pretty hard. It would, though, create some seriously palatable drama for the thrid one. like a mission to try and heal her.

because no rubber, no knock up is a win/win

its a game dude, and this game has its own principles, nobody has a problem with alien cooties in it, and since you yourself aren't in it, why care about it?

It's part of one, for sure, but TBH, i'd much prefer to hug/kiss her as opposed to sex.

What puzzled me a bit is how... accepting people in ME universe seem to be about inter-species relationships.

I was just offering an opinion about a story that I enjoyed very much...

I would have preferred this as well. Frankly I find the idea of inter-species sex to be....well disgusting. Especially when there is a high risk of you harming the other species by doing so.

Plus I thought you being able to have sex with Tali just by having her take some miracle drugs was ridiculous.

Well, I don't know about Garrus, but the point is that Tali WANTS to show herself to you.

Just because you would be the first person to see her without her suit. You deserve that much for her. It's not just sex, really, is a matter of trust, of self confidence.

Well, when you've got a species like the asari that can basically mate with anyone or anything and do it because they find it advantageous to their people as a whole, then you either accept it or consciously choose to live in denial.

I don't think Bioware would do this. It would exceptionally cruel considering the fact you can't "be" with Tali without her removing her mask.

This I get. And like.

But then she tackles you into your bed.

She didn't start research on inter-species sexual intercourse. She researched different ways to improve her immune system.

And what is so mind boggling about inter-species sex anyway? Most land animals on earth have comparable genitalia to that of the humans. It's common knowledge amongst biologists that sex is an evolutionary revolution that will greatly propel the evolution of species once it's discovered, thus most advanced races in the galaxy would rely on sex to reproduce. Also, provided two different species are based on the same hereditary chemical (DNA) and developed on similar worlds, then the chances of them having comparable genitalia are pretty reasonable. But I guess we'll find out for sure once we discover extra-terrestrial life.

She still gets sick, just not deathly sick. So it has it's risks; all of the romances in Mass Effect 2 has risks (it's either with aliens or biotics, and Mordin has advice for both). The thing is is that they work around the issues and judge their time together as worth the hassle.

Eh, it wouldn't have bothered me if they left out the sex part of those romances but I'm also fine with the route they took. They could have had "talk it out" scenes at the end of ME2 and then an actual sex scene (though not explicit) at the end of ME3. I mean, if you're starting a relationship with another species, you would THINK the best idea would be to take it slow. The devs might have thought that would anger players, though. ...And they ARE on a suicide mission so hey, might as well have one special night together before they (possibly) die.

Because the other races have had centuries to get over their xenophobia, unlike that racist catholic ***** Ashley. God I hate that ignorant human.

I know.  Don't get me wrong, I liked Tali all through the first one, and was pretty pumped when I heard she was romanceable in the second.  They really flushed out her character for us in ME2.  I'm not suggesting, or condoning Tali's death, BUT you have to admit that Tali being sick would not only create some thick drama for the game, it would put a whole new kind of narrative pressure on her relationship with Shepard.  If done right, it would be really beautiful.  If that's the right word.

i know and i don't have a problem with your opinion, but your proclamation on how "Bioware should've made it so Shepard can't bang aliens" may suit you, but dissapoint others.

It's not that I think it is morally reprehensible or anything; but I felt like a more tragically sweet story would have been love between two people--aliens being people--that goes beyond sex. Since they may/may not even have the ability to do so without dying.

Plus, the fact that most land mammals have genitals "compatible" with ours is not very...palatable to think about.
