Because the other races have had centuries to get over their xenophobia, unlike that racist catholic ***** Ashley. God I hate that ignorant human.

Races that have long been a part of the galactic community might be more open-minded but you have to remember that humanity is still regarded and really is a newcomer to that community. You'd think people would still be opposed and disgusted by the prospect of being with something of an alien race. You know, find it to be an 'abomination' or whatever. It's not a big deal! It's just something that crossed my mind.

I do think they had sex... I mean why else would Tali be researching? Why else would she be taking anti-biotics and herbal supplements? Just for a kiss?
And seeing Tali pounce at Shepard like that... you honestly think there wasn't any hot and juicy smex involved?Posted Image

She didn't start research on inter-species sexual intercourse. She researched different ways to improve her immune system.

And what is so mind boggling about inter-species sex anyway? Most land animals on earth have comparable genitalia to that of the humans. It's common knowledge amongst biologists that sex is an evolutionary revolution that will greatly propel the evolution of species once it's discovered, thus most advanced races in the galaxy would rely on sex to reproduce. Also, provided two different species are based on the same hereditary chemical (DNA) and developed on similar worlds, then the chances of them having comparable genitalia are pretty reasonable. But I guess we'll find out for sure once we discover extra-terrestrial life.

It's not that I think it is morally reprehensible or anything; but I felt like a more tragically sweet story would have been love between two people--aliens being people--that goes beyond sex. Since they may/may not even have the ability to do so without dying.

Plus, the fact that most land mammals have genitals "compatible" with ours is not very...palatable to think about.

Think about it from a purely biological standpoint.

Anyway, that Tali scene was purely suggestive. Nothing says that you actually had sex.

If Quarians are similars to Humans in that they show affection by kissing each other, then I completely understand why Tali would pounce Shepard just like that. Imagine not ever sharing intimacy with anyone in your entire life, and not only that, but being unable to take off your mask without risk of getting an infection. If you suddenly had that chance, would you hesitate to jump on and passionately kiss the person you're in love with? I know I wouldn't.

It's implied, given the advice Mordin gives players with alien-LIs, and what the notion removing the suit means for Quarians, it is extremely likely they were intimate. Just because it fades out doesn't mean it didn't happen, it's strongly implied, it happens in movies and tv shows all the time.

Wow, announce you hate another character, imply it's partially due to their religion, and then complain about ignorant people.

I think it would have been much sweeter if it was left as impossible for two different species with entirely different physiologies to have sex.

Tali/Garrus were worth romancing because of their personalities. Instead, Tali immediately begins researching ways for interspecies sex. That is not only weird, it kind of detracts from her adorableness IMO.

What if instead of being tackled into bed by a cyborg quarian who is, according to Grunt/Okeer anway, not exactly soft or fleshy, we simply shared some downtime looking out the window in each other's arms?

Once I found out that Tali might be taking off her mask did I continue with the Talimance...and then I was dissapointed on that front, leaving me feeling kind of disgusting.

Thoughts?

It might be weird to you. but thats just your oppinion. But no matter what even if 2 specize can't have sex, that doesn't mean they can't pleasure eachother in sexual ways. If they love eachoter they could care less if they are compattible. There are ways around that you know.

I find those people to be extremely ignorant. I hope most of these dogmas will die out by the 22nd century, but I highly doubt it happening so soon, especially if we never make first contact in real life.

I don't know. I could never be a pro-human kind of person. That kind of attitude would offend me as much as racism and ultranationalism does in the real world. After all, we're all equally the children of the stars. I don't see anything unnatural or wrong about two intelligent beings having feelings for each other, or whether they choose to be intimate or not.

That's a good point, I guess, and if I really needed to I can do a little retcon in my head.

Still, I stand by my original opinion, though I do not think lesser of Bioware for doing otherwise. Their game, after all.

Hey, who knows maybe Shepard an Tali will have a hybrid baby offspring. The looks of a Quarian with the DNA and immune system of a human. all of the strengths, non of the weaknesses.

Similar to Asari. Purebreds are weaker than hybrids.

But I digress, the one thing that is true, and is 100% implied by the game, is that Tali and Shepard love each other. And that, in the end, is all that really matters. *lights fade. curtain drops*

Sadly there are people who think like that and I hope we won't be as close-minded in the future either. But given human nature, that would have to be another social hurdle that will have to be overcome. There is obviously a pro-human faction in the ME universe, interspecies relationships just seems like something they'd denounce.

I'm calm. And I applaud Bioware for creating a character I strongly disagree with on several levels. I think it's an accomplishment that they managed to pull off a personality that could really make me angry when talking to her.

Having extensively studied the Bible, the Quran and even the Book of Mormon (lol), and the history of these religions I couldn't take anyone who's a catholic in the space age seriously. It's the paramount of ignorance. Any religion is, really.

I do not condemn faith. I just have a general disliking against organized religions and their moral and ethic teachings.

Even having a small tear in her suit could prove deadly. That's how Tali got a fever, from a small wound. Being without her mask is also dangerous, and even taking immunity boosters, she still got sick from being intimate with Shepard.

Unless I missed something...

Where does it say she's Catholic? IIRC she only believed in an undefined "something" which included a heaven of sorts.

I'm pretty sure she mentioned she was Christian in the first game. Back of my mind tells me she mentioned she's catholic, but I'm not entirely sure. Christian - most definitely (it was either 'christian' or 'catholic')

I think people might be going about the OP the wrong way. I don't think they in anyway meant they SHOULDN'T have sex, just that it would have been interesting to the plot and a testiment to the romance if they COULDN'T have sex. And I think this is a valid point, more so for Tali than any of the other romancable aliens.

Garrus: oh well, allergic rxn, have an EpiPen near buy.

Thane: okay so now FemShep is tripping, we're already in the bedroom let her sleep it off.

Tali? Tali is risking her life for you. Which I think is romantic in and of itself. But if it turned out there was just nothing that could be done and Shep STILL felt the same way, that's amazing.

Ashley makes no mention about being Christian. That would be pretty risque of Bioware. She only says that she believes in God and heaven, citing the universe and everything within it as evidence or a reason to believe.

I think sexual intercourse should only be between members of the same species, and just becuase of this I am extremely ignorant?

Even if their parts are not compatible, Tali and Garrus do have hands. People need to broaden their definition of sex.

Actually she admits she wants to have sex with shepard in many ways. She says for one she would link suits with shepard if he was a quarian in the most intimate way possible. That means sex. But she says she also wants it to be real, "she wants to take off her suit by saying"  Tali says (Everything happens outside the suit wile we are connected, nerve stimulation, sensor probes and such when we link suits, but I don't want that. I want it to be real, I don't just want... I want to feel your skin agenst mine. I want us to be together, I want it to be right.) Is something like how she said it. If you don't understand what she ment by that you need to listen to her more carefully.

She does research and takes anti-biotics and herbs so she can take off her suit. Also talk to mordin before you have sex with Tali. He gives you info on sexual posissions she might like, he tells you to clean your body among other things of a sexual nature. Just listen to him about the info he sends to your PDA and you read it as Tali walks in before the final battle. That PDA your holding has data on it about what he was talking about he'd sent you for Tali. Now if thats not enough for you I don't know what is. LOL :P They deff had sex beleave me. Talk to her after the end of the game. Her reaction deff says they had sex.

Actually man, she was one of my favorite characters.  Did all her convos.  The only thing she ever said was that she believes in God.  Not a specific religion.  Look, it's cool you've got your beliefs but I think you're projecting them onto the game a little bit.  I have no problem with you believing what you want to believe, but dumping on other religions is a good way to get threads shut down and this is a somewhat interesting topic and I'd rather that not happen.

Well if something were to happen to Tali, I think Shepard would force Mordin to make a cure.
