I think people might be going about the OP the wrong way. I don't think they in anyway meant they SHOULDN'T have sex, just that it would have been interesting to the plot and a testiment to the romance if they COULDN'T have sex. And I think this is a valid point, more so for Tali than any of the other romancable aliens.

Garrus: oh well, allergic rxn, have an EpiPen near buy.
Thane: okay so now FemShep is tripping, we're already in the bedroom let her sleep it off.

Tali? Tali is risking her life for you. Which I think is romantic in and of itself. But if it turned out there was just nothing that could be done and Shep STILL felt the same way, that's amazing.

There we go!

All other input was appreciated, though!

Because the other races have had centuries to get over their xenophobia, unlike that racist catholic ***** Ashley. God I hate that ignorant human.

Races that have long been a part of the galactic community might be more open-minded but you have to remember that humanity is still regarded and really is a newcomer to that community. You'd think people would still be opposed and disgusted by the prospect of being with something of an alien race. You know, find it to be an 'abomination' or whatever. It's not a big deal! It's just something that crossed my mind.

I find those people to be extremely ignorant. I hope most of these dogmas will die out by the 22nd century, but I highly doubt it happening so soon, especially if we never make first contact in real life.

I don't know. I could never be a pro-human kind of person. That kind of attitude would offend me as much as racism and ultranationalism does in the real world. After all, we're all equally the children of the stars. I don't see anything unnatural or wrong about two intelligent beings having feelings for each other, or whether they choose to be intimate or not.

I think sexual intercourse should only be between members of the same species, and just becuase of this I am extremely ignorant?

Haha, I was gonna comment on the same thing, but I didn't know how to word it.
I'm glad to see someone else that shares the same opinion as me.

Even aliens probably aren't hermetically sealed. There's got to be a hole somewhere. Just saying.

Even having a small tear in her suit could prove deadly. That's how Tali got a fever, from a small wound. Being without her mask is also dangerous, and even taking immunity boosters, she still got sick from being intimate with Shepard.

Well if something were to happen to Tali, I think Shepard would force Mordin to make a cure.

Mordin's GOOD but I don't think he's a deus ex machina. Either way, I think both parties took precautions to severely reduce the risks.

Yeah I think it would have made for a better plot if the romance between She[ard and Tali was impossible. It would make her rant about Quarian immune systems not adapting quick enough a lot more understandable for me. As it stands now I found that comment to be selfish.

Even of theres not, thats not going to stop them from rubbing skin agenst eachother if they like eachother. Not sure why people think its impossible to be intimate with a very different alien race if they don't have the same gear as we do. Won't matter you just tell them and they tell you where the feel good parts are and they can go for that. Doesn't always have to be about baby making.

Actually isn't he a deus ex machina because he came up with the cure for the collector swarms, that was his purpose.

I really wish I could've taken this "I don't want to risk it, but I still feel the same way" route without cutting off the romance entirely... I understand what they're going through, but at the same time, she could die. Die. That's... a pretty big deal. :?

Ironic, calling her racist then bringing her religion up and using it as an insult, firstly she is not cahtolic, it is never spesified, secondly your a hypocritical *******.

Also, not to forget, he modified the Genophage, which was harder than creating it. He had to stay in the parameters of the existing Genophage. A 100 times the complexity.

If someone can create a cure for Tali (and Thane) it's Mordin!

I know this is kind of out of left field, but they should have totally gotten Hugh Laurie to do Mordin's voice. Did anyone else get a "House" vibe off of him?

That's what I mean, Mordin WAS like Hugh Laurie on crack, and meth, and caffeine. Just minus the British accent.

No way, that would have totally killed Mordin.
Half of his awesomeness came from the voice actor fitting so perfectly.

Or maybe I just got a "Hugh Laurie" vibe off of him, not House. And no disrespect to the voice actor who did voice Mordin, he did a superb job; you could feel the emotional baggage on that character. He was very layered, and you could feel it.

Anyway, I digress again, back to the philosophizing at hand.

That's what I would say, yes. As long as both (or all) parties are intelligent and conscious of their decision to have intercourse it's all right. So no, I do not think that you screwing a pig would be moral.

If you read back a few posts you'll find out that I posted that on purpose to provoke a reaction.

I like the character because she provokes me to get angry at her. I'd hate her if I was Shepard.

Yeah I hate Ash, like I said amillion times. I enjoyed leaving her at the nuke site because of her raceist  ways to another species to a alien. Wish there was a renegade option to "Throw Ash out the airlock for judging my friends because they are not human." I also wish you could tell each one of your alien friends she has a issue with them. Wrex would be like. Wrex: "You have something to say to me human? Say it to my face so I can rip you appart." LOL I'd enjoy Wrex ripping Ash appart. I don't know how the others would take it, but they really wouldn't like her. Tali might react like she did with Volus. She really doesn't like quarian insults thrown at her. Thoes fire her up. I'd let her fight that little punk speciesist.

Nobody talks about my friends like that and lives if I was Shepard. They'd be crushed under my heel and thrown out a airlock wile in FTL speed. HAHAHAHA!

She didn't start research on inter-species sexual intercourse. She researched different ways to improve her immune system.

And what is so mind boggling about inter-species sex anyway? Most land animals on earth have comparable genitalia to that of the humans. It's common knowledge amongst biologists that sex is an evolutionary revolution that will greatly propel the evolution of species once it's discovered, thus most advanced races in the galaxy would rely on sex to reproduce. Also, provided two different species are based on the same hereditary chemical (DNA) and developed on similar worlds, then the chances of them having comparable genitalia are pretty reasonable. But I guess we'll find out for sure once we discover extra-terrestrial life.

It's not that I think it is morally reprehensible or anything; but I felt like a more tragically sweet story would have been love between two people--aliens being people--that goes beyond sex. Since they may/may not even have the ability to do so without dying.

Plus, the fact that most land mammals have genitals "compatible" with ours is not very...palatable to think about.

That's your opinion, and I respect it. I don't want a tragically sweet story. I found the Tali romance quite satisfying, and realistic given the circumstances. It wasn't a miracle drug.

She still got sick. just not deathly sick. I would think risk of death, however minor, every time intercourse is attempted, would tragic enough as it is.

Well that doesn't really explain why I'm suddenly extremly ignorant,  but whatever.
