I just finished my second run-through, trying to max out for Paragon.  I finished the game with only about 80% of the Paragon meter filled.  Yet, I _know_ I accumulated more than 100 Paragon points along the way.  Probably, I accumulated more than 200.  Yet, at the end, I'm sitting at 80%.

Anybody KNOW exactly how many points it takes to fill the meter?  Are there points at which, once you get to a certain level that you don't accrue any further points, until you reach a specified level?  (Meaning that Paragon/Renegade points scored prior to that threshold do NOT accumulate, and are therefore wasted.  And worse, once you're accumulating again, those particular points can NOT be reacquired.)

If I had to guess I'd assume each point was 1/2,000 of the meter, with your class skill giving you a bonus of up to +100% effective points. I could give you a more exact estimate if I could stomach the ten minutes it took to start up a new character, but I'm not that devoted. ^_^

I'll say this: at more than 85% of the bar full there are still conversations with negotiation items greyed out.

I'd guess it's about 500 or so. In ME 1 I think it was 300 or something in that area.

I just checked. You need 970 points to fill the Paragon bar. Probably the same amount for Renegade.

[Slightly spoilerish, but I think that players have the right to know if something simply can NOT be done.  It might save on battered keyboards and monitors if they don't find out about something being impossible the hard way.]

You need about 90% Paragon to NOT lose the loyalty of SPOILER in their blowup argument.  (Depending on which one's side you took.)  970 X .9 = 873 -- when at most you might score a whopping 32 points for a MAJOR action event.

Is it even possible to start ME2 from scratch, no imports, and get the meter that high?  Or is the ONLY way to get the meter that high is via a character import (which brings some Paragon/Renegade points to start with)?

This is actually VERY significant, because the ONLY way you can get the entire team to survive to the end is if ALL of them become "Loyal".   And there are several "It's either going to be me or him/her" decision points.
