I don't think your love interest would get kidnapped, more like something else happening that would be tragic. Who here honestly thinks Shepard will survive ME3? He's most likely going to die.

I would rather not have Ash be kidnapped, thank you. If that's even possible. I'd like to see someone try to kidnap Ashley. >:D

the Collectors already tried.

See how that worked out for them. Image IPB

When I listed "LI is integral to the plot" in my poll, this is the sort of thing I was thinking of. (And, tbh, before Ashley walked out from behind crates or something on Horizon, I thought that's just what Bioware had done.)

I breathed a long sigh of relief when I saw her walk out. The cut scene where she was frozen terrified me. Her words after the hug...

I was thinking during the course of most of this evening on how to spice up the romances in ME3.

And I finally arrived at the most hackneyed of plot devices: love interest gets kidnapped by the Reapers/the enemy/whatever and put through a terrible ordeal.

It is certainly cliche, but I trust that BioWare can implement such a plot device successfully.

I mean, watching a love interest being mistreated/abused could build a far greater emotional connect between that character and the player... Not to mention, it would also make a great rescue mission.

I had thought of this but i think their will be a twist she/he is indoctrinated and is ur main enemyin ME3..... maybe?Image IPB

That was what I was thinking earlier! It would be total badass awesomeness. Fight those who you once trusted... makes a good tagline!

Yes, Tali gets captured and turned into a husk. Hilarity ensues.

I think, she'll get out herself by releasing Chiktikka Vas Pawz to help her escape. By the time Shepard is there to save her lucious hips, she'll already be at the front door greeting Shepard. Image IPB

Shepard: "Ok, Garrus, Legion, this is where we're at. We need to save Tali from the Reaper. We'll go in hard, get them harder and we'll be the only thing left standing when we reach her. Alright, let's go"
*Shepard opens the door to enter the reaper, but is stopped by what he sees.*
Tali: "Hey shepard, you missed me?" :3

If he dies then there had better be some kind of reaction from his team and his LI that makes it moving and poignant.

I know right!!! And it makes sense u have to have a saren or collecters type to fight in ME3 that would suck if it was a team member.

Wouldn't surprise me. In both Dragon Ages and ME they avoid including love interests in sequels or expansions. The whole game removing your love interest by making you rescue them would fit it. They would technically be in the game, but they wouldn't have to include the love interest and write a story for how you interact once the 1st big bang scene is over with.

Once the romance ends, its just boring couples life.

Tali: Sheepard, pick up your socks and underwear

Shepard: *shrugs*

Tali: NO pick up your dirty socks, its killing me

Shepard: Geesh ok, when are you going to stop playing this low immune system card?

Tali: *cough cough*

Why would they abduct a corpse?

Totally silly if you ask me.

If they want to upset me, they should better abduct Wrex/Legion/Joker.

The real reason the Collector ship decided to GTFO out of Horizon IMO.

That's just what I want to do, spend 2 of the last 3 parts of the trilogy without my LI on the squad.

After the way they treated ME1 LI's I doubt they could properly pull this off, besides it doesn't make sense.  If anything it would make more sense for Liara to get kidnapped by the SB.

I romanced Liara and stayed loyal thoughout ME2. I think I've gone long enough without her, I respectfully decline your offer.

I doubt it.

1. Most LI's aren't people who would let themselves get kidnapped.

2. The Reapers seem to have exhausted their infiltration options and are coming in directly. I imagine they'll be too busy destroying planets to anything as subtle as kidnapping specific people.

My rampant speculation on ME1 LIs only.  Ash/Kaiden will be the 2nd Human Specter sent to hunt you down. You can kill them or talk her/him out of killing you and they can join your squad.   Liara will either go to the dark side or stay good based on player decisions.  Also, based on player decisions Liara may also sacrifice herself for Shep in the end.

or not.   ;)

I think it would be cooler if someone captures Shepard (Illusive Man or Shadow Broker) and his crew or LI has to go rescue him/her.

I do think it would have worked beautifully in ME2 when the Collectors steal your crew. I always cringe a little when I see Kelly get dragged into that elevator, but if that had been Liara?

I would have been jumping out of my chair yelling at the screen. THAT would have been emotionally engaging and made me want to hunt down and kill every Collector in existence.

Harbinger: Yes! We did it, now Shepard will have no choice but to fall into our trap to save his loved one!

Meanwhile, on the Normandy...

Kelly:Uhm, Shepard, are we going after Ashley?

Shepard: No, no, no. She's a goner, I can already feel it. Leave her.

Kelly: But her vital signs are still green on her--

Shepard: I SAID LEAVE HER! (Oh, man, this couldn't have worked out any better. Now I won't have to explain Tali about Ash or Ash about Tali...)
