I actually think that BioWare could handle this well. It could be similar to the crew capture in that if you don't rescue them quick enough something horrible happens. Then the player would have no one to blame but themselves.

Would be good idea if it happens somewhere during the storyline, husk thing could be related to time you waste,...

No no no, i want friggin' epic battles were we, humans, pwn robot ships with railguns/torpedoes/lasers/explosions everywhere.

Damn ME3 is supposed to end the reaper threat and since they threaten the galaxy as a whole i expect the game to show a galactic wide story/plot and not just save the girl or save few stupid colonists.
