So much easier on PS3 where you can just run across them and get them all solid before crossing : )

Lol, yeah, I actually edited it because I was a bit too harsh. I guess I'm just tired of people not reading a post properly, but feel the urge to answer it with an argument - not realizing that they are actually in agreement.

Choir, meet Preacher
Preacher, meet Choir.

Edited for clarity, because DJ0000 jumped right in between, tweaking our noses, even. Just to prevent further "I have to bash you because I completely agree with you" posts.

Umm, there aren't any difficult puzzles in this game. They didn't even bring in a Tower of Hanoi puzzle this time.

*sigh*  Do people actually think replies like this add anything?  Like when they respond to posts which say "the combat is too hard" with "lol n00b I could play this game with my eyes closed."  If it's easy for you, bully.  If someone says they have difficulty with a part of the game, either say something which helps or...

Its the internet... always be prepared for unconstructive comments.

i also wish there were more puzzles in the game, though tbh i didn't like that step on plate puzzle much. the one before was cool, where you had to answer those riddles. sure some were obvious, but it still was insteresting.

I really enjoyed the riddles as well. I also enjoyed the ones in the Mage origins story. I don't really class this sort of things as a puzzle, but yes I suppose they are.

There is almost certainly a name for the type of puzzle that the bridge represents, but I don't know it. I never liked rubic cubes, Connect 4 and other games of that type. I sort of feel if I want to do that there are plenty of puzzles like that out there on the net for free in the form of Flash games and whatnot.

My original post was borne out of frustration as I was deep into the quest itself and then had to break out of the mood as it were. Of course, there will be many people that enjoy this puzzle and relish the challenge and I wouldn't want to be down on that. That said, if this game had a lot of those types of things it would be a game breaker for me. Thankfully it doesn't.

The puzzles irritated me in ME as well.

As for learning skills, well yeah. You can't learn em all. We don't have points in IRL, but analogous just the same.

The game obviously needs a "puzzle difficulty" slider just like it has a combat one. For those who like puzzles they can have "nightmare." For the puzzle challenged who play to relax ... "Easy."

That sounds perfect - you reading this Bioware?

Something occurs to me...

What if you don't have a full party when you do this? The solution here always seems to require four people (or three people and a dog) moving around - so what happens if you arrive with just Alistair and Morrigan in tow?

It's entirely possible to try the Sacred Ashes quest without having met a fourth party member yet.

If your party has less than four members, Ash Wraiths will appear to complete your numbers.

Ash Wraiths, huh? That explains how the people who solo the game get through this puzzle, then. Pmsl.

No problem. I don't like lengthy quotes unless it's necessary. My post above and below his made my position perfectly clear. I will disregard, and I do think that you are a very mature person.

The internet really has ruined puzzles in a lot of ways because people can just go look up the solutions, so gamers don't develop the skills necessary to solve them, and as such all the puzzles do is disrupt gameplay.

This is largely why no one makes straight adventure games anymore.

I'll admit that my own tolerance has gone down for puzzle games. I loved the original Myst, but never could get into the later ones.

The thing I hate about the riddles is the multiple choice makes what are already fairly easy riddles incredibly easy. I don't think I've ever been challenged by the riddles in a Bioware game.

I don't mind puzzle games if they're supported by a strong story and if most of the puzzles can be solved in a reasonably logical fashion. I liked Grim Fandango, Sanitarium, The Longest Journey...although I'll confess I did go to the internet occasionally when I got stuck.

The riddles at the gauntlet are very easy, but I don't mind that--they still added atmosphere. I didn't care for the stones puzzle because it just seemed arbitrary and a case of having to figure out the effect of standing on each stone. The only effect of it was to test that you had at least four people in the party and some patience--I don't see why the Maker would want his shrines to be visited only by pilgrims in groups at least four.
