I think it'd be pretty awkward to be honest. Romances in an RPG are meant to be progressive and personal. Playing third-wheel doesn't make it a quality aspect of the roleplaying. Rather, I'd think of it more as some gossip mini-game.
Any NPC relations would have to be established and on the process of growing well before any interference from the PC. And if it had to come to such a thing as taking part, one might suggest it be predetermined.

When they bring back Alastair just to have him romancing some NPC is when I start stomping disks.
Good thing Anora is not 'some NPC.'

I SWEAR I read something from Bioware saying that just because YOU can't romance them, doesn't mean they won't romance each other with the choices you make.
Or was this another game I've been anticipating? Can someone confirm?

There was a little flirting with Zev and Leliana. And Zev would flirt with Wynne. :innocent:
Wynne does have a magical bosom. There's no denying it!

So, waaaait...You want to help NPCs hook up? I'm not sure if being Anders' wingman as he tries to get in Velanna's pants would be any fun.

I mean, take Alistair and Morrigan. To quote my reply in another thread, the sexual tension, with a knife you can cut it.
I mean, it'd be cool if it was a little like Cammen and Gheyna in the Dalish Camp, but maybe not quite so 13-year-olds-passing-notes-in-math-class.

That's just why I don't want it - it's too sitcom. Oh look! They hate each other - it must be love! If I ever hated someone, I really, truly didn't want to sleep with them. Just wanted them dead. I wouldn't believe it in a game. But that's the kind of thing I'd expect, if it's all NPC romance. If I want to see that, I'd watch tv.
Come on now, hate sex is the best sex. But yeah I agree, the I hate you but really I love you ploy is kind of worn, need to get back to the classics.

I believe I recall Leliana mentioning at one point that if my PC hadn't made a move on Alistair, she would have. Of course, she may have meant she would have made a move on the PC... Hm, maybe I taking the wrong meaning from it?
Yeah she says soemthing like that. And if your romancing both of them when they make you choose if you ask why do u have to pick and cant be with both of them i think she says somehtinkg like "is that what alistair really wants?"
So yeah i diffenately think Leliana thinks Alistair is intriguing but ... she's just interested more in the warden.

Yes, help people hook up and have fun while you sit in your camp all alone and cry yourself to sleep.
Yes, let's. There's nothing like a new Warden, a dumped one, or one that didn't romance anyone in the OC, having to sit and watch others develop relationships. Fun times, yeah.
Shades of Haer Da'elis all over again, rassafrassin consarnit.

I hope that since we as the pc cannot romance Awakening characters and probably already have a love interest from Origins is that the new characters can romance EACH OTHER and maybe you can help with it. Personally I found it strange that the main character was the only one attracting any interest. I mean stealing someone else's lover would shock the approval ratings and give some interesting dialogues. Maybe our old companions' cameos can be romantic interactions with our new teammates too.
Nice idea but it will probably won't happen since they're so tigh on budjet even when they brag about they awesome selling

I think only PCs who romance Morrigan or romanced Alistair, made him king, and weren't human nobles were dumped.
But, yes. I just went through this in ME 2 so I feel for you.

But to be honest, I'm kind of glad there aren't any love interests in Awakening. With the exception of DA, the romance sidequests in BioWare games have been cheesy and lame (I can't comment on BG2 and ME2, as I haven't played the former and am still working on the latter). I'm really eager to see how BioWare manages to create a story without using romance sidequests as a crutch. Hopefully, this is a sign they'll be taking more risks in the future.
I didn't really feel any connection to Ashley in ME and there was very little emotional payoff with the sex scene before Ilos. Liara was even worse - pretty much that sweet, submissive, socially awkward nerd fantasy come to life and completely one-dimensional as a character. Likewise, the romances in Jade Empire were forgettable and KOTOR's were cliched.
A big thing that helped DA pull it off was that the characters had more depth. They also had motivations that existed independently from your own and some serious flaws too, so you felt ambivalent about them. Because Morrigan had a ton of flaws (unsure if you can trust her, ruthless) it made a lot of her good qualities (smart, funny, vulnerable) stand out a bit. Likewise, Alistair might be a genuinely nice, funny guy, he's also incredibly immature.
The fact that you can't really change their personality or a lot of their "critical" points helps in selling them to me because that way they become more like fully-realized characters than some sort of nerd-fantasy objects for my PC to put his pixelated tool inside.

Bioware did say there would be sexual tension amongst the party. Now weather it's simply Oghren trying to get a peek under some robes again or something a bit more complex has yet to be determined.
If that is the cause i think i am in a lot of drama.
I've romanced morrigan, leliana, zevran and Allister at the same time while avoiding that each one of them know about eachother... Thank god that they aren't in my party in awakening otherwise that would be like Watching some Damn Mtv show
