After defeating the Eclipse gang in the Samara recruitment, you have evidence against the volus, Pitne For detailing smuggling.  You have the option of turning it in to the detective for Paragon points and 4200 credits or turning it in to the volus for Renegade points and 9000 credits.  

However, if you talk to Pitne and say "I'll hold onto this." then speak to him again and say "Fine" you will hand over the evidence.   If you don't turn them over to him in the first dialog, you only get Renegade points, even though the second dialog also mentions a monetary reward.
