They kind of are, but i think i'll rather stick with my two-toed chicken legged aliens, and the blue tentacle-heads ^_^

I find Tali too friendly to really consider the romance option. I went with Miranda instead, she's got the boobs and the butt.

Yeah, who wants a super friendly girlfriend?

I'm pretty sure Tali is aimed at guys with frontal lobes.

On the sister thing. Now that you mention it, I really worded that wierdly...  Let me put it in this way, she is a dear friend to you that you almost see her as a little sister. Not blood related, but sister character. This is what some posters above meant too.

No worries mate, I figured. The way it was worded, I just couldn't stop myself from making a comment about it. ;)

I love these Tali confusion forums, because i share those thoughts. The first time i came to this forum i saw I LOVE TALI posts and mentions of Tali creeps. This was when Tali was my favourite character. She is not so much anymore. I didn't think she was hot or anything, i personally don't feel that you can find animations hot. She was just cool.

Tali in ME was there to provide codex entries on the Geth and the Quarians, nothing more. She had very little in the way of personality. At least that's improved with ME2.

Still, I agree with ronin. Garrus I consider my Shep's best friend, and Tali like a little sister.

Actually, she did have a personality in ME1. It's just that Quarians are a race where people are tight packed on the flotilla and due to the general lack of privacy they tend to think rather as a community than individuals, despite their suits. Quarians approach every problem from a "we" standpoint. What's best for the family, the Flotilla, not for you personally. Even more so, considering the burden of her heritage. At least that was my impression in ME1.
Plus, no one really blames Legion for only being there to provide Geth codex entries just because he doesn't refer to himself as an individual (and is rather perplexed by the idea even).

On Garrus, I love him to bits and pieces (platonically, but still). He's the vigilante. The comic book avenger. I think BioWare created a wonderful personality for him. It fits him rather well, and I can clearly see why people are attracted to him. As with Tali, it's more about personality than looks. And I love the fact that you can stay best friends with Garrus up until the end (like Thane), unless you hit that big neon "OMG I TOTALLY WANT IN YOUR PANTS!" conversation option

Just because you have a foot fetish doesn't mean everyone else does.

Come on, why else would you list toe count as a reason not to like her?

But seriously, are you that xenophobic or superficial that you can't make any effort to understand her character or personality?

Do not poke the giant bear of Tali fandom.  Now a horde of barbarians will swoop down upon you...and swooping is bad.

Xenophobia is an intense fear or dislike of foreign PEOPLE. Tali isn't isn't a foreign person, she's a different species all together. I don't feel attracted to animals either. That doesn't make me superficial, it makes me normal. Maybe its just me, but I'm finding it rather disconcerting that anyone is romantically drawn to anything that isn't human.

You do know that this is a game, right? Tali is a human creation. Players are supposed to be able to connect to characters in the game. Thus, they must be human-like. Tali has a human personality, is played by a human VA, and except for feet and hands she looks pretty human as well (since we can't see the face). How is it surprising that people like her?

Animals aren't usually sentient, intelligent and emotional beings. They're not people. Beyond their basic instincts, they don't feel love and emotional attachment on the same level as us. Aliens like the quarians ARE people, which is a fundamental bridge between their species and humanity. Just because party A can't make babies with party B doesn't mean they can't form a romantic relationship.

You know that's identical logic to all classic human racism, right?

Obviously, these species who were sentient, intelligent, self-aware beings who were travelling the stars millennia before humans reached the iron age are less than dogs or worms because they aren't human. Even the entirety of human history pales in comparison to their interstellar accomplishments. You're right after all! It makes perfect sense! (no.)

Tali is probably the sexiest gal in the Mass Effect universe. My rankings would probably go thusly, if I had to unleash a Top 5:

1. Tali

2. Miranda

3. Aethyta (bartending asari matriarch)

4. Samara

5. Benezia

I wouldn't say "hot." The fandom she's commanded comes mainly from her personality, the mystery surrounding her appearance, and her hips. Yes, that's relevant enough to command its own category. I personally find her adorable, because, let's face it, sometimes you just want to hug her.

You obviously never got that liking someone is not always about the looks, huh?
That said... I'm sure BioWare will make her look pretty. They pretty much have to. And hobo accent, really? Wow.

That said. I think she is the - without going crazy here - 'cutest', 'sweetest' and most 'adorable' character in the current Mass Effect universe. I mean... out of all the characters I like her best, definitely. Her personality is just developed very well.

I was never a fan of Tali, "Ambassador Udina made me take her along"
I'm not really interested in any of the LI's, the closest thing I have to a romance is with Kaidan or Garrus

I need to point out the absurdity of people who say things like "lol its just pixels u r stupid for thinking it can be hot", or "shes just animations". These are juvenile arguments that simply don't make sense.

Let's use the human example of Miranda, since people seem to have a problem with someone finding Tali attractive. Miranda is a human. She is designed to look, move, and act human. You're telling me that it's impossible for that to be attractive? Sorry, that's not how the human mind works. Deal with it. I'm not saying you're insane if you don't think Miranda is attractive. I'm just saying that "She's just pixels" is a silly thing to say. Our brains don't work that way.

Females of alien races in Mass Effect were designed to be attractive. Say what you will about Tali having four toes or whatever. She also has a human-like figure, hips, breasts, etc. Different strokes for different folks I say. If Bioware were to go for complete and total realism, then none of the aliens would look even remotely like humans, which would make it significantly harder for the player to relate to alien characters.

Now, I should clarify. I'm not at all suggesting that someone who actually develops real, romantic feelings for a video game character is healthy. Of course it's not. But I don't think anyone on these forums is in that situation. Mass Effect 2 is just a game full of very well-written characters, and we the players are supposed to become attached to them. That's all the "Tali love" thing is.

Nobody wants to print out a picture of Tali and marry her. She's just a terrific character. People like her, and as we've all learned, when you combine fandom with the internet, people get a little crazy.

Welcome to the 21st century. We'll all be a lot better off when we stop acting like 10-year olds to each other, and embrace the following very simple fact:

Everyone, everywhere, is just as bats**t insane as everyone else in the world.

Nobody's normal, we're all nuts. Now get on with your crazy Quarian-loving lives.

Alpha, Xenophobia is correct in this instance, just Alien works for both Aliens and Foreigners. The meanings of these words are generalized and an alien from another planet is still a foreigner because did they not come from somewhere else?

Come on, it's not wrong to be repulsed by all things human nature and have an inclination to be warm to anything that isn't the mentally-unappealing, craven, worthless hairsack that is the average human, right?

Oh right, misanthropy is bad...

Well I still like Tali. Like I said in the other "current" Tali thread in this forum, she's for guys who just want a nice Jewish girl (or just a "nice girl" if you're going that route).
