Specifically, elf male faces without extremely bony structures or huge chins?

I've been able to make female elves to my liking, but every time I attempt a male elf I just get too frustrated with the chin/jaw structure. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah its hard, I imported a character I thought looked good in the CC and he didn't look so great in game. I think the thing I did was made the nose fairly large and then sized it down, depth wise and such. So it was still normal sized but didn't stick out so much.

Raising the eyes alot doesn't help, since it usually ends up making them look kinda alien. I found messing with the nose, and raising the mouth a bit- and then the chin helps.

Thanks, I will try those tips out, I didn't think about messing with the nose really. I've tried to get around the extreme pointy chin by making it wide and short, but in game they always look like the area around the mouth is swollen like they're hamsters or something... it's frustrating.

Don't forget that you can put the mouse on the left side of the CC screen & 'swivel' the viewpoint around to see 3d angles of your character face to better judge various depths of various features. It's as easy as holding the click & dragging.

Some of the more uglier presets can actually be used to create the best looking faces, because some have different proportions that is impossible to get from just moving the sliders,

One thing I found helpful is to work on a bald character at first and add the hair only when you're plenly satisfied with the face. It's easier this way as you can better see the face features...

This is Laelyan (the portrait doesn't look right without the black background):

I noticed that, some of them have huge chins even with the chin height slider all the way to the short side. I will try toying with the hideous faces more then, thank you!

I still haven't been able to create a male face I can stand looking at, but I am trying.. thanks for the advice all.

Many thanks for this intel! Image IPB I didn't know this either. Though it's also kinda ridiculous to not have ALL of the settings options from just the sliders alone. Is this a bug?

It seems like its a 'hidden' intentional feature. That is, each preset seems to have its own 'build' that you can slightly change. It's limiting and frustrating to me though, especially when I'm trying to make an elf male without a super bony face and massive chin...Oblivion had a similar thing, but eventually someone made a mod that let them default all face sliders to a neutral face and allow max customization.

So far, I've gotten close to a good male elf. I found making the jaw slightly larger than I am used would help make the bony cheeks and massive chin somewhat smaller. I am still having trouble removing the 'puffy mouth' part of the face though. It looks like they are holding in some air in the mouth or something. Maybe I'll post a picture when I get home to help illustrate what I mean.

Ideally, I'm trying to get soemthing that looks like Zevrann or even Soris from the elf commoner origin.

My main issue with creating a good looking male elf is the eyebrows. Why must everyone have droopy, sad eyebrows? And the default frowning mouth doesn't help. Grr

Agreed - it's hard to get a face that doesn't look permanently excited or sad. Same with the eyes - most of them make you look petrified. A few of the presets for humans tone it down, but its harder to do with elves.

For now, I've given up making a male elf. It's just too hard to make one I'm happy with. I've wasted too many hours on it already.
