I've always wanted to attenuate the weapon overheating feature, among other things.  Weapon stats don't appear to be contained within the various .ini files.

One Heat Dampener level X. Problem solved. Unless using HE ammo, of course.

Yep, familiar with that one.  Actually, I'm talking about modding the weapons themselves, ( i.e. firerate, damage, accuracy, etc.), not simply using the default addons in the game.  This would entail editing a specific .ini file, or possibly a .u or .upk file.

Normally this cannot be done without the benefit of an SDK specifically tailored for the build number of the Unreal Engine used to create the game.  Since Bioware has already indicated that no such utility will ever be released, I was hoping that someone out there had devised a way to edit some of the aforementioned parameters.

Somebody finally made a tool that could extract usable 2da data from the upk files a while back. But he had no interest in reversing the process so you could modify the data and put it back in. That was quite a while ago though, and I've not kept up with news on the dismal ME mod front.

Dismal indeed! Such a shame too, given the infinite possibilities the modding community could come up with for the Mass Effect universe.  You wouldn't happen to know where I might download the aformentioned tool, would you?

I have the extracted 2da's but I think the actual utility was a php script or something. I'm having trouble finding it myself.

EDIT: Found it in a post in the old forum. HERE

It is in PHP and you must have PHP installed to use it. I don't see a link for the already extracted files anymore, so my HD is the only known location.

MORE EDIT: The author also states that he pulled a lot of his information from another program you can find in the post HERE. It's apparently in C# and is only availible as source.

I have not seen either of these in action, only the resultant 2da files from the first. The latter seems to claim an inability to reverse the process. I remember asking the author of the former one, and getting a 'not interested' response. I find it unlikely that it can't be done though.

Frictionless material level X combined with other weapon X mods will give your Assualt rifle INFINITE firing power. Gets boring, believe it or not so I swapped it for a Scram for more power but with overheating possiblity. The game gets ridiculously easy and you have to omni gel everything when you get to powerful and rich.
