Ewww. Dude, bro comes from brother. Bromance is a platonic term. Try "dudemance" or something. The implication of having sex with your brother is gross. There is a MAJOR Garrus bromance in ME2 to the point where I was feeling its overtones as a female playing a female, which is weird. It's m/m romance that we haven't seen yet. Here's hoping that will change.RiouHotaru wrote...
lack of Garrus bromance,
Heh, this is EXACTLY how I feel about other women. Hell, I was even depressed about it once or twice in my life when I was boyfriendless and had an awesome female friend, but there's no fixing it. You like what you like.RiouHotaru wrote...
I should let you know that I can still appreciate the aesthetic beauty of women, they just don't do anything for me sexually.
Interesting post. I think you're at least partially right... I mean, look at the popularity of Thane. (I'm surprised you aren't eyeing him instead of Garrus! Keener is just that damned good, I guess.)
I do feel the uncanny valley a little bit, but for me, nothing in ME2 actually bothers me on a conscious level. Garrus and Tali--though I see what you're saying, for me it's still the voice and personality that I like, which is why I was squicked by the way the Garrus romance played out.
Jack, on the other hand... I guess the tattooes, makeup, and her flecked skin really made her look a lot more human to me. Ironically, Miranda's "perfect" skin looked inhuman, and I think that bothered me a bit. If she'd had a few flaws, a few freckles or zits or large pores or something, I don't think it would've been as weird.
Imperfection actually looks more real and thus less "uncanny." I think that's a good lesson.
