Diablo and Dungeon Siege are mindless hack-n-slash games....they're fun and good in their own right, but entirely different from this. You're obviously another person who didn't do their research before buying the game. Another thing: You think this game is arcade style, but Diablo and Dungeon Siege are hardcore...sorry, but you haven't a clue as to what you're talking about.

If you want a recent hack-n-slash, try Torchlight. It's relatively inexpensive and sounds like it might be more to your liking. There's also a free demo.

And before you spend money on a game, be sure you know what you're buying next time.

Too obvious of a troll. I mean comparing a game to two games which are still in production is just too obvious.

I could see your point if this wasn't a game with a story to tell. Since they need to develop that story and not just give you a playground to frolic in, certain plot elements are needed.

Do you wish to be the Son of Bhaal? No? Too bad.
Do you wish to be a Jedi? No? Too bad.
Do you wish to be a Spectre? No? Too bad.
Do you wish to be the Nameless One? No? Too bad (that one is not bioware.)

What exactly is your point?
Is you point you don't know what type of game you paid for? Oh well, if that is your point then it is quite unfortunate for you not to pay a slightlest bit of attention to ALL the advertisement.

Even the CGI trailer gave an image of a party based game. Last I checked. Diablo/DS/Torchlight are not that.

NB: Why do I feed the trolls?

I can tell this person never played any of Bioware games if they think it would be like Diablo...

I like Diablo as much as the next guy, but I is realy just a hack-slash loot dungeon crawler with RPG elements implanted.

This game rox!! The only thing that is a point of critic (IN MY point of game-experience) is that a miss some freedom that The elder scrolls IV: Oblivion provides. You can just go everywhere in this game which is a little more limited here.

But oh hell, what does a little freedom matther if the the game is so good. Dragon Age is a very good game and for the price it sells, its a bargain =)

And yes, this basicly hasn't anything to do with the person who opened this threat :P

Hmm, I guess what would be best for him is to go play Borderlands, so that the rest of us can stay here and enjoy one of the best RPG's in a very long time. Sure, the graphics are sort of crappy at times, and the collision detection can allow pieces of armor to just melt into one another, but as far as the story, and the open questing is concerned, this is just a great game, period. The first hour or two had me worried, because I wanted to try out the actual fighting, but once I got out of the origin story, it's been almost too much combat. What I'd give for a damn store that sells enough crafting components:) Hell, the Reaver in Redcliff killed me around ten times, until I got a couple of potions from the Inn, and then set each character to attack the guy at the same time. Things get good if you leave it on normal, and actually manage your party, so no, the game just rocks, and I'll be playing for months, way more than just a week or two. Borderlands was fun, but as an RPG, the whole thing is shortlived. I've got two guys that are about to beat the game, and a third that's half way there, so it might be fun, but it's short lived fun, and each and every character has to do the same quest over and over, even in the second playthrough. As rpg's go, Dragonage Origins is just awesome,no comparison.

So Lassor first complains that the game is too linear and then in his next post, he says he wished it were more like two other, much more linear games. Yeah, I guess it's possible that he's just clueless and not trolling, but I can see why people thinks he is.

If you don't like the game, don't play it. Simple as that, there's no need to come crying to the forums because you didn't research the game well enough or rent it before you bought it.

Are you kidding me? The graphics are the WORST part of the game, but even those have their high points (just look up in the Tower of Ishal). The rest of the game is rock solid. I will admit that it does seem to be very linear 14 hours in though. I just got all these places revealed on the world map and I can only visit ONE of them. Come on!

Dungeon Siege and Diablo type games, which are Action RPGS are the shallowest RPG games out there. Though they are fun, they are nothing more then click fests with no real thought in playing them. ARPGs are the type of games where you want to play, perhaps blow off some steam, or you just don't want to put to much thought into your gaming period. Dragon Age is a type of game where you actually have to put some thought into it, actually roleplay your character, have to use your brain to actually win fights, plus you get an enjoyable epic storyline out of it.

Also, Diablo and Dungeon Siege are alot closer, and I mean a lot closer to an Arcade game then Dragon Age is. I don;t know about you, but I have never seen an Arcade game like Dragon Age is, yet I have seen many many games that play like Diablo at the arcade.

And that's why game reviewers try to play the whole game before they write anything.

But hey, OP is right maybe Bioware should make sure the beginning of a game is more representative of the whole deal so it doesn't give people a bad first impression

Dungeon Siege required the same kind of pause and issue commands to party tactics that DA does.  It just has a nonexistent, bad story compared to this game.

It sounds like the OP wanted an action RPG. Diablo 3 and Dungeon Siege are also completely linear. They're even more linear than the first 12 hours of Dragon Age. They also don't have any dialogue or character depth.

This game is amazing, case closed.
