Gads! It's just a computer/game...These "people" aren't real...Posted Image

Alistair the manboy, Morrigan the Wildwitch,Duncan thewisefatherfigure...The list could go on and on and yet with the superb voice acting and the storybook reading I just couldn't stop playing and feeling for these characters.
Yes,yes I know it sounds like a fanboi gone crazy and no I don't live in the basement of my mother's house...
Did you laugh? Posted Image Did you cry at the ending? Posted Image  Did you feel for these characters? Posted Image

Am I loosing it? Posted Image

The depth of characters and the quality of the voice acting really make it a great, involving game.

Tystone did you find it more appealing than Mass Effect 2? (I did)

I know it doesn't appeal to the people who like pew pew lazors but who honestly cares what they think :)

Shield bash brings a certain visceral joy that can never be acheived in a gun battle, no matter how high powered it may be. ;) And Tystone? Not to worry, you aren't the only one. Most of use have become wildly addicted to this game. :) I haven't done a tearful ending as all my PCs have gone for the ritual, but there are other moments....

Don't worry m8 a lot of us have gone through this and I think a few of us have wondered whether or not we where going insane... I've just always compared it to having a crush on a popstar or movie actress... You know they're unreachable but still... ;)

Did I cry? Nope, but I do feel very sad and slightly depressed everytime the ending closes in and I get the Morrigan talk... :) I usually tend to postpone the final battle with most of my characters... :)

I've also went on a hopeless quest since then to find out what her plans where and I try to read everything I can on the forums regarding Morrigan... sometimes even catch myself trying to defend her honour as well.

P.S. I've laughed quite a lot in the game too! :)

It IS just a computer game, but its the best written, best acted, most graphically intense computer game I have ever played before. I can't get enough of it. And I try different things (usually small things) each time I play through and read on the forums things people have done and try to achieve it in my game. I even switched genders to run through once (though I prefer playing as a female since I AM female my boy was a lot of fun too).

I was mad enough at the ending of my first playthrough that I gave the game DVD back to my surprised husband and told him I was done. Of course, four days later, I stole it back and made a second character, determined to steer clear of my first ending, damn it. ;)

It really was just a video game so I was embarrassed to talk about it, but googling "unhappy with X ending in DAO" actually had me reading blogs from fellow gamers with similar experiences that had me laughing and crying and feeling a lot better about my reaction to the game.

This fan art is probably my most favorite perspective on Dragon Age and perfectly captured what was going through my mind on my first playthrough!

I have to admit, I was surprisingly affected when Whatsername In Redcliffe had to kill her own son. I have never been that "upset" over something in a video game. Bioware really got to me with that one. Kudos to both the writers and the voice actors in that scene

Through my gaming years,I have played awesome games,DA:O is one of them....I,m a perfectionist when it comes down to solve quests but I have been stuck with 1 in particular (town of HAVEN,tombs stone with different epitaphs on them),does anybody solved this mini quest? Sorry about changing the subject but being unable to do this one really bums me out..........

You mean the gravestones in haven, quote taken from the Dragon Age Wiki:

Easter Egg: If you return to the village of Haven after completing the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest, a graveyard (previously not accessible) becomes available behind one of the buildings in the lower village. The gravestones have entertaining messages from the development team.

If this is what you mean then its not a quest, just an easter egg.

And how.

The thing is my first play through I didn't really click with her - the whole crazy chick who hears the voice of God made me want to run away.  I was tempted to reject her outright, but figured if nothing else it should make for an interesting party dynamic.  She certainly didn't disappoint.  I now find myself struggling to keep her at arms length in order to explore other characters.

I have actually had my heart broken in this game, and then lifted right back up. After more playthroughs than I care to relate, I still feel like something special has happened when a certain elf confesses his feelings. The voice acting, writing, and animation has really set a new standard for video games.

There must be something to it, I just bought my second copy of the game. This time for PC. I have never replayed a game so many times. I also find myself running wround and hitting the "conversation" spots on the map over and over again, so I can hear new dialogue.

Never have I replayed a game so much as this one, even when I seem to know all the dialogue options by heart, I still find it very captivating. It's not just the facial emotions and the dialogue or even the characters' backgrounds, but there are small things that really bring those characters to life like the way characters look at you (or away from you), how they move, how they even blush sometimes. It's so hard to not think of them as real, it's like reading a really good book where you can visualise everything even if the author has never revealed what the characters actually look like. They aren't your stereotypical characters either, though they possess some of the usual qualities one expects in an RPG party set-up.

There's just something there in the Dragon Age formula that Bioware has gotten totally spot on that really pulls the player in that other games have not been able to do to such a degree.

Yep.  I'm surprised my wife hasn't given me grief yet with as much time I spend on this (game and forum.)

You would think by reading some posts here that the game isnt good. These people are right. The game isnt just  good. Its great.By far the best as far as plot twists and turns go and gameplay. The DLC is good too.Certainly better than most mod packs out right now.I can only think of one mod done properly by an independant and thats Alley of Murders.Id stay away from enigma battle dungeon unless you want access to easy mode for your character.

I rush home from work each day, rush dinner on the table, rush house cleaning, rush all 4 kids to bed... just so I can play. Then I stay up to 1am when I have to be up at 6:30am for work... I have been one tired chick... but I am in love with Alistair - he is worth it... lol
